Ray Epps - the man whose words were caught on film inciting the violence on J-6 - gets slap on his hands for that

If there was doubt before that Ray Epps was not a favored leftist agitator on Jan-6, there should be no longer any doubt now. While others were arrested and held in detention under deplorable conditions for months without a trial, Epps was never jailed and now, three years later, is not going to be jailed, in spite of the long prison terms given to others who did less than he did to incite the violence.

After a lot of controversy, Ray Epps finally pled guilty in September to a single charge of disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds after encouraging people to go into the Capitol the night before.

If you were wondering what sentence he might get for this, wonder no longer. The answer is in, and you might have guessed what it would be.

The prosecution wanted six months because they said he had engaged in aggressive conduct to get past the police officers outside the Capitol. However, they also appeared to argue against themselves.

However, several “distinctive and compelling mitigating factors” set Epps’s case apart from other rioters’ cases, prosecutors said. They noted Epps turned himself in two days after the riot and attempted to deescalate conflict between law enforcement and rioters at least five times that day.

His attorney asked for probation, and that's what he got — probation for a year with no restrictions on his travel. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $500 and to do 100 hours of community service.

The report reiterated:

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Gordon said in September that Epps was “not before, during or after” the Capitol riot “a confidential source or an undercover agent for the government, the FBI, DHS or any law enforcement.”

There is no evidence federal agents played a role in fomenting the Capitol attack three years ago. FBI Director Christopher Wray said last summer it’s “ludicrous” to suggest the agency or its assets helped orchestrate the riot.

They apparently haven't been listening to Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA), who estimated there were over 200 FBI assets there on Jan. 6, including people inside the building who were dressed as Trump supporters.

This after Epps was caught on a lot of video whipping people to go to the Capitol or go into the Capitol.

In relation to other sentences, where people are being pursued for a lot of time, even for minor offenses, this seems like a light charge to begin with — and a light sentence.

People weighing in were disturbed but probably not surprised.

Leftists created the Jan 6 sedition conspiracy theory, hired actors to incite violence, then jailed participants for long periods for minor infractions, and refused to arrest and jail some of the worst instigators of violence for their more serious involvement. That is how the new fascist Democrat socialist banana republic works.

How is he a leftist, moron?

Ray Epps was not arrested with hundreds of others in the days following Jan 6 and he was not jailed under cruel and unusual conditions for years without due rights and was not sentenced to several years for inciting more violence than just about any other protester caught on camera. That tells me he was a leftist Democrat plant much like the fake Russian spy that Obama and his dirty team tried to set up to implicate Don Trump Jr. in their fake Russian collusion conspiracy theory lies.

that doesn't say anything about him being a leftist. he didn't participate in the same way in the insurrection violence as others who did and rightfully got a longer sentence.. different circumstances, different consequences.

god you say the dumbest things. lol

Clearly the Democrats meant to hurt real opponents of voting fraud by immediately arresting them, jailing them for years in harsh conditions without trial, and then sentencing them to prison for years on trumped up charges.

Ray Epps was different. The DOJ only arrested and charged Epps after three years of Americans questioning why he was never charged when he was clearly caught on tape urging violence. After he was finally arrested he was sentenced to probation with no jail time. There is clearly something unjust going on here.

If you are a Democrat, you may avoid arrest and imprisonment for breaking the law but if you are a republican in today's fascist Democrat socialist 3rd world crooked oligarchy you can go to jail on trumped up charges just because that is how lawless thugs deal with their political enemies.

That's exactly what trump said in his interview with Hannity. How ironic you should point to democrats who never said it.
