Many whites also use the Trans Saharan slave trade or Arab trader argument to justify American slavery. The Arab Trader argument is that Muslims enslaved people in Africa, and because of this, whites cannot be held responsible for making slavery legal in America. I tried this type of argument with my mother as a child and found out how it does not have merit.
When I was ten, I went bike riding with some friends. We rode into an apartment complex and saw a pop machine sitting wide open, so we each took a can of soda pop and rode off. When I got home, I opened the soda and started drinking it. Enter my mom, who knew we did not have any money when we took off. She asked me how I got the soda. Looking back, it would have ended better if I had lied and said I found a dime lying on the ground. In 1971, you could still buy pop in a machine for a dime. I did not do that. I told mom the truth. You could have fried an egg on my derriere about five seconds later.
As this was happening, I told her that other kids did it too, like that made it right. My mom did not have any of that. She informed me that we all were stealing, and she held me responsible for what I did. What the other kids did was of no concern to her as I was her child. The Arab trader argument uses the same “logic” to deny American racism.
The Trans Saharan slave trade existed, but going back to the Pleistocene epoch to find an excuse to say that other nations did it too, or how slavery has been practiced since the beginning of time, is weak. Especially when in the same air, these people will try telling us how it is 2025 and tht we should stop living in the past. While it is true that slavery existed in Africa before Europeans got there, the lie begins with the nature of African slavery, while ignoring the fact that whites made slavery legal in America.
