Tim Walz......liar.....Stolen valor...

Some one asked how Tim benefited for his alleged stolen valor
I thought the stolen valor charge was wrt his rank.

Ok, is claiming to have had a gun even if a lie related to valor or some military honor? Is that your claim? Would you happen to have evidence for it if that indeed is your claim?

He claimed he carried a gun in operation enduring freedom in Afghanistan he was never there or in battle he was posted in a nice comfy position in Italy
This is of ZERO importance concerning his ability to serve as VP.
Just stupid quibbling by the schmuck he defeated when he won the race for governor.

Finding Walz's lies about his rank is harder to find now as the campaign has run out and scrubbed or modified any source of it.

Apparently according to this CBS piece he lied in his official bio on his Governor page. Cannot get any more obvious than that.

Official biographies on the Minnesota government website and Vice President Kamala Harris' website have described Walz as a "retired Command Sergeant Major." However, documents reviewed by CBS News show this is not accurate; while Walz served at one point as a command sergeant major, he retired at a lower rank.

So what more do you want? He lied about his rank on his official bio on his official website.

Thanks for this. I think it is fair to add this part too:

“Walz served at one point as a command sergeant major, he retired at a lower rank.”

A few points:

1. Was he demoted then? If so that is a bigger story.

2. I am not sure how big a difference is between the two ranks. Are they just different or is one significantly higher than the other one?

And my personal question is this: has the governor admitted now that this was inaccurate or has he double downed and has repeated this inaccuracy again and again and still does?

well, so he rose to the rank of command sergeant major, but his retirement benefits are based on master sergeant (one rank down) since he didn't finish a training course that was required to remain at that rank. So you can argue he was a command sergeant major on the day before he retired because he was, although simultaneously on the day of retirement he would revert back to master sergeant for benefit purposes.

saying he retired as a command SM is certainly puffery at the very least, but its not tangibly stolen valor in a legal sense since he isn't trying to get higher benefits in retirement. He has since changed his web site etc to be more accurate.

frankly, he served 24 years and people like trump who avoided service with a fake condition are criticizing him? lol.
they are desperate to find something to attack him on, and to me, this is somewhere between semantics and a technicality.
