Yes, but he was there as a journalist just like Gore was. However, Trump was a coward who claimed to have bone spurs on his left foot, and yet there is no record of them having been removed, and he did play football in college. The nickname came from his wearing a traditional Mujahdeen headdress, and garments, while reporting from near the front lines thus the nickname "Gunga Dan".
