VW is either the largest manufacturer or the second largest manufacturer of cars on this planet. All its workers in Europe belong to unions.

Many parts were made in China, certainly not all of them. And NONE of these workers had any say whatever about where the parts came from.

When I worked at Claycomo Ford Assembly Plant back in the 1960's, joined the UAW. What was I paid? $2.35 an hour. The minimum wage was 80¢. Who wouldn't join a union that got you three times more money?

Sure and people have the right to organize. It is a basic human right.

Volkswagen's management was rather stupid to believe they could get away with lying about the pollution their Diesels were spewing. But by and large, their cars are more or less reliable transportation. I am sure that if Ford, GM and Chrysler can produce cars at a profit with a union contract, VW will also manage to do this. Union workers want to make good products and want to make decent wages as well.
