"Commercial traffic at a key South Texas border crossing has stopped after Mexican truckers on Monday blocked north- and southbound lanes on the Mexico side of the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in protest of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to have state troopers inspect northbound commercial vehicles — historically a job done by the federal government.

In response to the Biden administration’s recent announcement that it plans to end Title 42 — a pandemic-era emergency health order that lets federal officials turn away migrants at the border without the chance to request asylum — Abbott on Wednesday ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to increase its inspections of commercial vehicles, which he said drug cartels use to smuggle humans and drugs into the United States."

The government can contribute to inflation through excessive spending; as the money supply grows, so does the price of goods and services. The latest $1.9 trillion stimulus package is a good example. Only a fraction of appropriations went toward coronavirus-related initiatives.

The Governors of Texas and Florida are seeking the White House. If either of them run and win, the United States will no longer be United and the longest democracy in the history of world governments will no longer exist. What is interesting to me is the third decade of the 21st Century has created a far right wing which is opposed to democracy and created laws to suppress the vote based on ludicrous, ridiculous and malicious conspiracy stories. All of which have been rejected by the Judiciary, yet the loud minority of kooks still believe votes by mail are all fraudulent and dead persons still vote.
