The problems with both the state's finances and the economy are what they are. The overestimation and underestimation of the magnitude of the problems is a function of the political agenda and the side one has taken. When you are in government, the problem is never as big as it seems, and when you are trying to overcome an incumbent, the problem is always greater than the administration says.

If the topics were not financial or economic, the various sides would find some other battle ground. But don't count on them, either side, to be realistic or objective. They are, after all, both politicians.

he will use it do do things he already intended to do but said he would not so as to get elected. his model calls for him to zealously maintain a sense of emergency, I don't expect him to waver from that. he really won't have the chance as they're already in recession with no hope of turnaround in sight.
