Why doesn't the US care about the crimes of its leaders?

Ok, so the US launched an attack against Iraq, invaded it, killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, lost thousands of US lives and have left the country in turmoil.

The reason given for this was that Iraq had WMD. Now on the one hand, so what if they did, America has WMD but that aside, Iraq didn't have any WMD.

The next reason given was that there was a need for regime change but that doesn't stand up for 2 reasons. One, the US armed SH and helped him into office and two, there are lots of countries run by evil dictators and the US feels no need to change their regime.

So the US Government attacked a country that was not attacking it and tried to justify this act of aggression with two stories neither of which have any credibility. The usual term for this is lies.

So why isn't the US angry about this and why aren't the people demanding that the perps be brought to justice and be prosecuted for this crime?
