Mind-slaves say it means just the opposite: an opinion that a non-contradictory phrase is actually a contradiction. Before the totalitarian control of the Illiterate Liberal Language Lords, that used to be a claim that a normal phrase was "a contradiction in terms."

For example, if someone thought that firemen were lazy, he used to be able to say, "Calling firemen 'firefighters' is a contradiction in terms." Now he would be influenced to say, "Firefighter is an oxymoron." Using the word that way would prove that he is an oxymoron. If someone were to call irradiated soil "clean dirt" he would be creating an oxymoron, which is a clever phrase, not a contradiction as the ILLL ilk makes us believe.

Firewater is a true oxymoron: a term that is a contradiction in other definitions of the words. "Boneless ribs" is an oxymoron, because "ribs" is not being used to mean the rib bone, only the meat on it.
