MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ A judge denied bond Thursday for a part-time evangelist charged with murder in the death of his wife, a mother of eight whose body was kept in a freezer for at least three years.

The father of the six youngest children, Hopkins also is charged with rape, sodomy, sexual abuse and incest in a related case involving a female relative who is pregnant with his baby, authorities said. Her disclosure of that sexual abuse led police to find the body in the freezer Monday.

Hopkins had told his wife's relatives in Wadley, Ga., that she was unavailable or didn't want any contact with them, Rich said. The wife's disappearance was never reported to police.

How can anyone's mind bend around preaching a Christian gospel while abusing his own children and keeping his wife's body in the freezer for three years?

But really, even I an atheist, wouldn't claim this dude is representative of christians. A better answer is that this is not representative of atheists either.

It's been my experience with a lot of people, that they are concerned about what a Pastor thinks of their actions, but have little concern about what the Pastor's "boss" might think. Touting a religion, and having faith in a higher being often don't have anything to do with each other.

Just as many things done in the past were said to be done in the name of Christ, but were anything but Christian, so are there men and women out there claiming to be Christian but with a totally black, evil heart. Jesus himself said it would happen, and that he would "know them not."

Fact is people are people, being a Church representative doesn't change a thing. It's similar to the pedophile Catholic Priests. I don't understand how that can happen either.

But it happens and you never know who might have went bad so best to be a little critical of everybody regardless what their job is. Especially with your kids.

There you go people! The guy was a wonderful man...a saint. And then, he makes just one little mistake, and look how he is looked at now. Can't we all just look at the good he has done instead of the negative? After all, it was just one little wife in one little freezer! It is not like he has done things like this all the time.
