Imprisonment and slavery are two entirely different things except in the minds of crooks who do not think crimes should result in imprisonment.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Passed by Congress January 31, 1865. Ratified December 6, 1865.
Slavery is still legal in the US, except in enlightened states, where it has been removed as punishment.

Note: A portion of Article IV, section 2, of the Constitution was superseded by the 13th Amendment.

Slavery as a form of punishment should be ABOLISHED, of course.

Why do so many states officially name their prison system, a DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS?

This is because the goal is NOT to imprison all convicts forever, but to REHABLITATE them.
By teaching them legal and lucrative trade, by rewarding decent behavior. NOT BY ENSLAVING THEM!

Of course, your opinion is that Black people are inferior and uncivilized beings, and should be PUNISHED, not given any second chances.

Putting black criminals in jail for committing crimes is not the same as selling blacks to southern democrat plantation owners to work in their fields.
