A portrait of America in decline

The US Constitution says that convicts can be punished b enslaving them, and only in some enlightened blue states has this possibility been eliminated. You are so utterly goddamned IGNORANT.
Imprisonment and slavery are two entirely different things except in the minds of crooks who do not think crimes should result in imprisonment.

Read the 13th Amendment, dunce!

AMENDMENT XIII

Section 1.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Passed by Congress January 31, 1865. Ratified December 6, 1865.
Slavery is still legal in the US, except in enlightened states, where it has been removed as punishment.

Note: A portion of Article IV, section 2, of the Constitution was superseded by the 13th Amendment.

How do you read the laws? Should both slavery and jail imprisonment be outlawed in the US?
