That says something about a person when all you have to do as a president is murder women and children to get in their top five.

FDR supported the a-bomb project while alive, and truman ordered it to be used - are they more of your murderers?

Who gives a damn what FDR supported? No matter who supports it the facts remain the same.

Thank God Truman dropped those bombs and ended a war with a fanatical enemy who would have fought to death resulting in many thousands more deaths of Americans and Japanese.

It is most disgusting when ignorant Americans today condemn Truman for what he did. Most Americans at the time were most grateful to him.

The revisionist fools must do foolish things.

At the cost of hundreds of thousands of children and women and other civilians? These just arent numbers these are individual people, these are children who never got the chance to grow up and have a family. So you can continue this mental masturbation pretending you did the right thing but it is you who will be ignorant.

Few people knew about the bomb - the US military at the highest levels included, except General Groves and his small staff who worked directly on the project. The military meanwhile planned for the invasion of japan. It envisioned a six month bombing campaign in 1946, followed by invasion. Estimates of casualties were 20 million dead for japanese civilian and military, plus one million dead and one million wounded for the US. Hostilities were expected to cease only around 1950. Most of the VA cemeteries in the US is land bought at this time to bury the american dead just from the japan invasion, and most older VA hospitals were hospitals built to take care of the wounded just from the japan invasion.

Fortunately, none of those gigantic casualties occurred, because Truman used the bomb, after giving a crystal clear warning, and emperor hirohito decided he'd had enough.

No doubt. It is too bad so many Japanese were killed. But, you are missing a much larger point due to your liberal brainwashing. Had we attacked main land Japan many more women and child would have died than were killed from the two atomic bombs. Plus, many more Americans would have died.

Many Americans living today would not be alive had Truman not dropped those bombs because their forebears would have been killed. I am one of those Americans.

Thank you Mr. Truman. You are a true American hero who unlike the liberal Dem panty waists of today, did the right thing no matter how difficult. You loved America unlike the guy in the WH now. And your old party is now a bunch of stinking commies.

they where not republican americans, to Gipper does not care...

I would say you could argue that not dropping the bomb would have killed even more Civilians...this of course leads to the argument Japan was going to give up anyway...and this was more to show force against the USSR...and so on and so on...but all is not really point of thread...
