America! Are we one step closer to communism?

The founding fathers had no plan after the Revolutionary war. They barely held on after they defeated the British and it took another 4-5 years before the constitution was even ratified and then another year before it was actually put into place. They got their victory, but still had differences to put aside before they could get down to business and set a new form of government that had never been attempted. That is what I meant Genius. If it wasn't for the Great Compromise we wouldn't be here discussing this or tearing each others throats out because of our idiotic political differences. But in the end we have failed as a nation because the core beliefs in which the constitution were founded upon have been pretty much distorted by Democrats and Republicans along with their Liberal and Conservative goon squads. I don't regret saying it and I never will but God Damn it I'm sick and tired of the politics and the American people being so Damn ignorant or oblivious to the whole thing. This Two party system has to go and it has to go now!!!!! We need a STRONG third party that will take on the status quo and tell them to shove it up their ass and take it somewhere else....

I'm confused by your history.

You seem to be saying the US had no government after the Revolution.

We did. It was organized by The Articles of Confederation. It provided the structure of the US for eight years.

We've also had a two party system virtually through our entire history. The Federalists and Jefferson's Democratic-Republicans was a division around the start. What do you think the Revolution of 1800 was about? It was about the change in power over to the Democrats from the Federalists.

An impression is given that the US government catering to special interests is something new. Jackson killed The Bank partly because he said it catered to New England business interests.

Third parties gaining prominence usually come about because of seismic shifts in the political landscape, such as the turmoil during the election of 1824 which led to the creation of the Whig party or the modern Republican party coming to prominence when the Whigs collapsed.

Nothing will change in the US until the populace is willing to live below its means. What politician is going to sell that?

Can we just have a third party please?!? I mean seriously I don't give a damn who, what, when, or where came into power at what time and what century. This two party system has got to go. I'm not participating in any more elections in this country until we have a strong and I mean a strong third party. The back and forth and the name calling is getting really really old. But I won't hold my breath because we as Americans are freaking gullible and will believe anything that comes out the mouth of these politicians and their goon squads on the left and the right...

No, we cannot have a third party. Our winner-take-all system encourages a two party system. A third party will only supplant one of the main parties in the end. The US would have to fundamentally shift its representation and election scheme to break the two party system.

There's a difference between people working collectively to prevent corporate managers from using their power to dominate the labor market and working collectively to maintain their benefits no matter what the economics say.

The unions have caught onto this to a point.

Which shows that unionists are not the driving force behind protectionists trade policies how?

Haha I have to agree but Im telling you not communism. Bush giving power to himself and all presidents after him to call Martial Law is rediculous. I would say were probably way closer to tyranny or facism than anything but communism isnt to far away haha

The two parties are too strong for a third party to take-off. You have a better chance of shifting one of the two parties toward your desired end. If you are a socialist then the Democrats can be shifted more toward socialism. If you are a Libertarian then republicans can be shifted toward Libertarianism.

The parties have made shifts before it can happen again.
