1. US President Joe Biden has signed into law a measure that will effectively ban all imports from China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, a move likely to have significant ramifications for US-China relations and global supply chains alike.

In a brief statement on Thursday, Biden thanked congressional leaders and the bill's authors for their "leadership" on the overwhelmingly bipartisan legislation, but he did not host a signing ceremony as presidents sometimes do with high-profile bills....

Senator Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican who was the bill's author, called its signing into law the "most important and impactful action" taken by the US to combat forced labour in China to date. "It will fundamentally change our relationship with Beijing," he said...

2. (CNN) When Europeans arrived in the Americas, they caused so much death and disease that it changed the global climate, a new study finds.

European settlers killed 56 million indigenous people over about 100 years in South, Central and North America, causing large swaths of farmland to be abandoned and reforested, researchers at University College London, or UCL, estimate. The increase in trees and vegetation across an area the size of France resulted in a massive decrease in carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, according to the study.

Carbon levels changed enough to cool the Earth by 1610, researchers found. Columbus arrived in 1492.

"CO2 and climate had been relatively stable until this point," said UCL Geography Professor Mark Maslin, one of the study's co-authors. "So, this is the first major change we see in the Earth's greenhouse gases."....

The implications of the study go beyond climate science and also contribute to research in geography and history, Maslin said, noting that deaths of indigenous Americans directly contributed to the success of the European economy.....

If Poor Little Rich Boy Marco has the balls, he should sponsor a bill calling for the severance of diplomatic ties with China. Then it will absolutely change US relationship with China. He can even try to concoct a conspiracy theory that the current global climate change is caused by China's genocide of the Uyghurs.

What has he done for the people who voted him into office? None at all. He seems to believe he is paid with high salary to sponsor endless anti-China bills. It could be said with certainty he will continue sponsoring anti-China bills until he kicks the bucket. 😇

4. In conclusion, I depict the tragedy of Red Indians by borrowing a few words of the first four lines of a famous poem "Bringing In The Wine" (将进酒) by the Chinese poet Li Bai (李白).

君不知,
北美恶霸欧洲来,
飘洋过海寻梦园。

君不知,
土著故园尽被占,
昔日好景不复还。

P.S. I leave the English translation of my short "nursery rhyme" to readers.
