Lara Trump has begged “very smart” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to delay his expected White House run to give her father-in-law, former President Donald Trump, a clear shot at the Republican nomination in 2024.

Eric Trump’s wife, now a Fox News contributor, said it would be “nicer” for DeSantis to wait until 2028 while seemingly conceding that, as The Post declared on its Nov. 9 front page, the Florida governor is “DeFuture” of the GOP.

“I think that Ron DeSantis is very smart,” Lara Trump told Sky News Australia on Sunday.

“Look, he’s a young guy. There will be a lot of opportunity for him in the future … to run for president,” she added of the 44-year-old governor, who was re-elected in a landside to a second four-year term as the Sunshine State’s leader.
“I think that Ron DeSantis is very smart … he’s a young guy,” Lara Trump said of DeSantis, whom The Post recently called “DeFuture.”

“And I think he’s a smart enough guy to know that it would be great to have all the support of this party, of the America First, MAGA movement — whatever you want to call it — fully behind him in 2028 than possibly has, you know, fracturing it in 2024,” Lara Trump continued.

As well as giving the 76-year-old Donald Trump an easier run, it would prevent the former president from having to resort to his usual vicious tactics, she suggested.

Maybe DeSantis should wait for a few months until after Tampon Timmy, Kacklesalot, and Galavan Naziscum duke it out and totally muddy the waters before he throws his hat in the 2028 ring.

A close friend of mine commanded a cleanup unit of soldiers tasked with burying the dead after the Iraq war. He said Saddam took innocent people off the streets and forced them to dig and occupy trenches in the desert to try to stop Americans from attacking Baghdad and those poor souls were shot by Saddam's own troops if they ran. Many were able to surrender at the first opportunity but, sadly, many more died when the US rolled over their positions with tanks and bulldozers at night, not knowing the Iranian victims were being held captive in the trenches.

The US government is not going to confiscate Iraqi oil and compete with ExonMobil, ConocoPhillips Chevron, and such. Oil will be loaded onto tankers and sent to refineries that are already set up to refine that particular type of crude oil. You have no proof that Iraqi oil was not bought and sold by one or more US companies.

The whole idea that the US is, or ever will be "energy independent" is absurd. The oil belongs to the companies, not to the US people or its government, and they refine it and peddle it wherever they please.

The idea that Trump is promoting "drill-baby-drill" common sense is anathema to Democrats who want the US to depend more on other nations for essential energy supplies.
