Don't be fooled by the glowing title given to these opinions. Just because people claim to be respectable scientists and millions of rubes believe they cannot be wrong does not prove what they think is true.
The article and its problems:
Scientists Discover 'Key Stepping Stone' to the Origin of Life (claiming they have discovered a key stepping stone is not proof they have discovered anything.)
The first forms of life on Earth emerged over 3.5 billion years ago from inert geological materials. The exact location of this emergence is still unclear, but many scientists believe that the earliest life forms appeared around deep-sea hydrothermal vents. (This is purely conjecture and scientifically false. Miller and Urey proved decades ago that life cannot suddenly form itself from inert geological materials.)
several key threads in origins of life theories together (the writer admits origin of life theories are not facts but theories and that theare are several different theories, none of which is even settled on, much less proven.)
"Finally, attempted reconstructions of the 'Last Universal Common Ancestor' of all life on Earth (These people are speculating and their speculations are seriously flawed by their false assumption that there was a 'last common ancestor' at all. They cannot prove there was a last common ancestor by inventing possible scenarios that assume as their basis that the last common ancestor was a fact, not a hypothesis.)
Fatty acids are long organic molecules with regions that both attract and repel water. Therefore, when they are placed in a watery environment they automatically come together in cell-like compartments, with the water-attracting parts on the outside and water-repelling parts on the inside. It is these molecules that would have formed the first cell membranes, isolating and protecting the inner workings of the cell from the world around it. (These secularists claim the acids first formed somehow miraculously in a manner they cannot explain or prove, and then assume the acids formed original life on earth, which is also not proven, especially given the facts learned from Miller-Urey experiments.)
"Our research has shown that fatty acids alongside a range of other different organic molecules can be formed (Notice the specific use of the words "can be formed" since they know they have no proof that would enable them to say the molecules "were formed" in that manner.
