It's a set of social things that whites get that others do not. For example, you lived for years, decades even of watching only whites on TV in positive settings. That's white privilege. Most of your life, the people you saw in important positions were white. That's white privilege. In fact, white privilege has affected you to such an extent that you have opposed policies such as Affirmative Action and DEI, claiming that people should be given things based on merit, and you only consider that it is blacks who are given unearned things and that the picture of a qualified person is a white man or woman. That is white privilege.

The opposition to black reparations is based on sheer racist hatred. Precedents have been set as other groups who have been harmed by the government have received reparations. As for the tired, worn out excuse of “why should I pay for something I did not do,” here is an example of reparations made in modern times for things done by past generations:

I am quite sure no one living in 1980 was alive when the U.S. government made the Fort Laramie treaty with the Sioux Nation or were participants in Custers violation of that treaty. Nor were they alive when President Grant decided it was OK to let settlers and people prospecting for gold trespass into land promised to the Sioux thereby violating the treaty. No one in 1980 was alive when the U.S. government decided to take the land from the Sioux by military force. No one in 1980 was alive when the U.S. government decided to cut off supplies they promised the Sioux as condition for their surrender after whipping the U.S. Army at The Battle of Little Bighorn. But in 1980, the government of the United States decided reparations were due to the Sioux Nation for what was done to them in the 1800’s. They awarded the Sioux nation 105 million dollars..

Half the country did not have slavery. In fact the union lost 360,000 troops fighting the civil war. You need to pay them for their sacrifice in releasing your ancestors from slavery. The democrat party should pay reparations they were the slave party.

What about white people whose ancestors came here after the civil war racist? My ancestors came from Sweden AFTER the civil war. They could not have owned slaves if they wanted to. I do not owe you shit!

Let me understand this right.

My great grandparents came to Ellis Island from Sweden in 1906. Over 40 years after the civil war and the 13th amendment.

They settled in Northern Illinois and for a time owned a farm in Wisconsin. WTF did they have to do with slavery?

My grandfather had to leave school and begin working fulltime when he was just 13. He would work 44 years as a tool and die man in a factory that made tractor clutches. My entire family worked in factories.

I do not owe anybody a damn thing.
