The Scenic Eclipse II, a luxury cruise ship, became trapped in ice during its voyage to Antarctica on January 17, 2026. The ship requested assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star after it was unable to break through the surrounding pack ice. The Polar Star's crew conducted two close passes to break the vessel free and escorted it approximately four nautical miles to open water. The incident occurred eight nautical miles from McMurdo Sound, and the Polar Star was in Antarctica supporting Operation Deep Freeze 2026. No injuries were reported, and the cruise ship was able to resume its journey after being freed by the Coast Guard icebreaker.

Antarctica is many many thousands of miles from the Northwest Passage. No one who has booked to cruise the Northwest Passage has ever been trapped by ice in Antarctica. Nor has anyone been attacked by penguins.

The Northwest Passage, a crucial shipping route between Europe and Asia, is facing significant challenges due to the diminishing ice sheets. Despite the overall decline in sea ice thickness and extent, older, thicker ice remains, impeding navigation by clogging crucial choke points. This has led to a reduction in the length of the shipping season between 2007 and 2021. The southward drift of ice has been obstructing the passage more frequently, creating choke points where ice tends to accumulate and linger. The passage remains enticing for the distance it can save on the journey between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, but the unpredictable Arctic waters and shifting ice present a significant risk to seafarers.

with 22 wives. He never had more than four wives at a time, though.

It seems to me that the basic design is humans is identical to that of apes, with the vagina an inch from the asshole. Pretty much all mammals are similarly designed.
