A nuclear deal has been struck! Among its highlights:
1) Both sides affirm their commitment to a nuclear free area and to pursue an overall resolution to the nuclear issue at a coming date.
2) One party will freeze certain reactors under this agreement, bringing a halt to its nuclear program.
3) The IAEA will be allowed to monitor this freeze to ensure complete compliance.
4) The United States and the other party will work towards a normalization of trade relations, and restrictions (sanctions) in various fields, such as financial, will be lifted.
Think I am talking about the deal in Iran? You would be wrong. These are some of the terms under the 1994 agreement between the United States and North Korea to prevent NK from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Are we really this stupid? This new "deal" with Iran is not worth the paper its written on. We have gone to negotiate and come home by giving them everything they wanted and getting nothing meaningful in return. We have seen this play out over and over and over again. This notion of getting a "deal" has trumped the notion of getting a deal that is worth anything.
This is a bad policy, and yet another example of this President's foreign policy (or lack of) making the world a far more dangerous place.
