Anthony Weiner Twitter Photo scandal

Since when to Ds care about morals or ethics? They love BJ Bubba. Is that not proof of their lack of concern about whether a politician is a liar, adult-er, rapist, etc....

We all know if WeinerBoy were an R, he would have resigned by now or been kicked out.

You haven't kept up with the thread. It's clearly established that some Democrats and some Republicans quit, some were forced out, and others kept their jobs and rolled right along. You cannot get by with pretending that Rs kick out their adulterers, and Ds keep them, because we see evidence that proves that wrong. Surely you don't want to hang on to irrational beliefs.

Depends on the communication. If all he did was chat with her, then he's OK. But if he had an online "relationship" with her, he's toast.

Police on Friday afternoon came to the home of a 17-year-old high school junior to ask her about direct online communications she has had with Rep. Anthony Weiner..

Would you have no ethical standards at all?

I don't believe the standards presented are unreasonable. Truthseeker did not ask for a saint nor a monk.

I suspect that if Wiener had been honest as soon as he was outed he would have come through this cleanly - except with his wife. Politically he would have been forgiven for sending pics of his underwear. The American people do have standards and the bar is not set impossibly high.

yea he lied, and yea he should be punished for it, threw being mocked, and taken down a peg or to, having to deal with his wife now...but I don't see it as a lose your job offense to lie about what you did in your personal life. Had he committed a crime and lied then sure. ( or if more comes from this 17 year old thing Rob Stated)

A dem puts a dirty pic on twitter...he must lose his Job because he lied...Yet Rove gets a Free Pass for lies and outing a CIA agent, and Libby gets his sentence commuted after almost nothing and Republicans backed both of them to the end...funny how one effects me and my view of a persons moral standards at there job then the other.

Yeah, that. Well said.

I prefer to see people stay faithful in their marriage, but cheating on your spouse isn't illegal. It's up to his district whether or not stays in office. Not ours.

You asked me for my "justification", and I gave it to you.

If you don't have a problem with your elected officials courting porn stars on the internet, and/or screwing around on their wives, and/or impregnating their girlfriends while their wives are dying of cancer, and/or soliciting high-priced call girls, etc., etc., etc., then you have your own set of issues, and I feel real bad for your wife or husband and your kids.

The same goes for you, PFOS. You leftists go around criticizing Vitter and Sanford and Craig and ANY non-leftist who messes around on his wife, but when one of YOUR boys does the same thing, you slobber all over yourselves making excuses and justifying their behaviors.

Then, per the leftist "playbook", you play the "all or nothing" card. Either you are a philandering scumbag, or you are a "monk". There is no in-between. There is no such thing as being a responsible adult and loving husband and father. You're either a cockhound, or you're a monk.

Hypocrites, bullies, and crybabies. No wonder this country is going to hell.

That seems pretty doubtful. I'm sure you've seen some schadenfreude over Larry Craig and David Vitter, but not the hypocrisy that you claim.

one person claims to be leader on family values

the other does not

hence the difference...sad you can't figure that out.

So Anthony Weiner's exhibitionism is OK because he doesn't claim to be a leader on "family values"?

No, sorry, but Republicans and Democrats both have to be held to the same standards.

What he said. It leads to a valid accusation of hypocrisy when you see a John Ensign or a Mark Sanford attacking Clinton, and then realize what they've been up to. When you see David Vitter ranting about family values, and then going to a prostitute to get put into a diaper, that really takes the cake.

The behavior of Eliot Spitzer was particularly hypocritical because he was a prosecutor. He put himself out as big on law and order, but he broke the law when he thought he could get away with it.

You're absolutely right about the hypocrisy shown by politicians on both sides of aisle, Pepper. I couldn't agree with you more.

However, the "hypocrisy" I was referring to was the hypocrisy shown by people like PFOS and Mare and other leftists in this forum, when it comes to not holding their own leftist politicians accountable and not giving them the same scrutiny they do with non-leftist politicians.

Why have people assumed that Wiener did not stand up and proclaim himself to be in favor of family values?

And what is his stance on sexual harassment?

I found this quote:

"Weiner has an outstanding record supporting sexual rights of others, with 100% ratings from NARAL and Planned Parenthood, and has a strong record of support for gay rights."

Who would expect that NARAL or Planned Parenthood would base those ratings, somewhere, somehow, on honesty, fidelity, consent, or lack of harassment?

Do NARAL and PP advocate dishonesty?

Do NARAL and PP advocate violating legal marriage contracts?

Do NARAL and PP advocate that every person involved in a sexual relationship has given consent before receiving lewd pics?

Do NARAL and PP advocate a male person of relatively more power to be involved like this with a female person of relatively less power? Legislators give out scholarships right?

Wouldn't we expect that organizations that give out whatever kind of ratings they give out give better ratings to those who claim honesty, fidelity, consent, and lack of harassment?

He allegedly has a 100% rating so shouldn't he be the poster boy for family values? Instead he is being called (after these events) the face of democratic values.

Would sending an unwanted photo to a college girl of a man's penis in underwear be considered sexual harassment?

An absolutely valid point. As she didn't solicit it, and [apparently] didn't even flirt with him, it would be harassment, IMO.

She didn't see it, though, and therefore can't complain even if she wanted to.

It was picture interuptus. Fortunately for her.

Your comment that he's being called the face of democratic values is simply not true.
