The Trivia Thread

your faith (saying it aloud) praying (5 times a day i think)
giving charity, fasting and going to mecca once in your life, but some like to do it every year

I could be wrong its three times a day to pray but I am pretty sure that is the Orthodox Jews who pray 3 times a day and Muslims 5 times a day. ITs been a while since I studied it

Everyone giving up the most eastern state?

Well it is Alaska. There are quite a few of the Aleutian Islands that fall in the eastern hemisphere. Attu, the furthest in the chain sits at 172degrees EAST.

It was a proposed mormon state. Not sure what exactly it means, and I do not recall the year or anything like that.

New Question:

What are the 5 pillars of Islam?

Make a trip to Mecca once in your life.
Alms to the poor.
Pray 5 times a day facing Mecca.
Say the Islamic confession of faith.

Of bugger...

Ramadan or whatever it's called where they fast for a month?
I think so... I can't remember lol I could just call up my Muslim friend. She'll know. Of course I wager I could google it just as quick.

Was it not a proposed mormon state too? I could have sworn I heard this from somewhere.

By gosh, you're right. It has to do with the idealistic proposed economic system, in which everyone would contribute and work for the common good, just like bees in a hive.

I have one to get the thread going again:

Why is the inauguration on Jan. 20th? What was the date before it changed?
Who was the first President to be sworn in on the 20th?
Who was the last President to be sworn in before the day changed?
Why is the inauguration now on the West side of the Capital?
Who was the first President to be inaugurated at the Capital?

A Saturday is no problem, but if it falls on a Sunday then the President takes the oath in private, and the ceremony takes place the following day.

It was also not the 20th until somewhat recently.

okey dokey, not to hijack the thread or anything, but the Sunday thing is a little odd. (Sounds like an antiquated rule to me...) What if , for the purpose of argument, the new President was a Muslim or Jew or someone who celebrated the Sabbath on a day other than Sunday? Why would he/she have to take the oath in private? And yes, I realize I'm opening a can of worms here

What patriotic oath was actually originated by a Socialist ( a real socialist, not just a liberal Democrat)?

I was surprised. Maybe you will be too.

I have a good idea on some of these.
Why is the inauguration on Jan. 20th?
Not sure.
What was the date before it changed?
March 4th pretty sure.
Who was the first President to be sworn in on the 20th?
I know this is FDR.
Who was the last President to be sworn in before the day changed?
Well FDR was also sworn in March.
Why is the inauguration now on the West side of the Capital?
The view is much better but I think more importantly the ability to hold a large crowd on the west side(mall side) of the building.
Who was the first President to be inaugurated at the Capital?
I know this is Tommy Jeff.
