1. Copenhagen, Denmark — A far-right Norwegian lawmaker said Wednesday that he has nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in the Middle East.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament for the far-right Progress Party, said Mr. Trump should be considered because of his work "for a peace agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel which opens up for possible peace in the Middle East."

"No matter how Trump acts at home and what he says at press conferences, he has absolutely a chance at getting the Nobel Peace Prize," Tybring-Gjedde, told The Associated Press.....

2. The Palestinian Authority has recalled its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates in protest over the country’s peace agreement with Israel – calling the deal a “betrayal” of its cause, including its claim to Jerusalem as the capital of a future state.

“At the request of President Mahmud Abbas, the Palestinian foreign ministry has decided to immediately recall its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates,” Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said in a statement sent to Agence France-Presse....

3. Can Trump achieve peace in the Middle East with his peace agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel? Just ask the Palestinians and their government. The nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize is the greatest joke of the century. The Norwegian lawmaker might as well nominate Peter Navarro for the Nobel Prize for Economics. At least the "jump-through-the-roof" economist has written several books with his own hand, unlike his cult master with the help of a ghostwriter. :)

..what were these 4 "historic" treaties..?

Called the Abraham accords Israel signed peace treaties with UAE and Bahrain. They are historic because in addition to recognizing Israel's right to exist they will now have normal diplomatic and economic relations.

There are also improved relations between Israel and Qatar and a peace deal between Kosovo and Serbia.

South Korean prime minister Moon Jae-in said Trump deserved the Nobel peace prize for promoting peace in Korea.

Moon and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday pledged at a summit to end hostilities between their countries and work toward the “complete denuclearization” of the Korean peninsula.

If that was Obama who met Kim at the border and took 2 steps into North Korea leftists would have wept. They literally would have been crying!

Perhaps people should be getting their news from sources other than CNN and BBC.

...they aren't peace treaties....they are just...mission statements for want of a better word...have you read them? I mean they're pretty meaningless, full of political drivel like the opening paragraph which is
We, the undersigned, recognize the importance of maintaining and strengthening peace in the Middle East and around the world based on mutual understanding and coexistence, as well as respect for human dignity and freedom, including religious freedom.
I think everyone would "recognise" that but it doesn't actually say they will undertake to make it so; to paraphrase Captain Piccard. It's just political rhetoric...political bullshit basically.
We seek tolerance and respect for every person in order to make this world a place where all can enjoy a life of dignity and hope, no matter their race, faith or ethnicity.
we seek? If it was a treaty it would be a legally binding endeavour not some worthless rhetoric?
We seek to end radicalization and conflict to provide all children a better future.
more seeking... no doing?
And in a cliff hangar of a conclusion....
We are encouraged by the ongoing efforts to consolidate and expand such friendly relations based on shared interests and a shared commitment to a better future.
...well holy bollocks batman....yeah.....falls flat on its arse!!??

19 lines of rhetoric doth not a Treaty make. A treaty is a legally binding agreement to do or not do something; like a contract an agreement to do or abstain from doing certain acts with the intention of creating a legal relationship. The Abraham Accord is a bit of political bullshit to make 2 politicians and 2 dictators look good on paper.

I won't bother with the North Korean stuff because its nonsense as we can see....Trump in North Korea was hilarious beyond words.

The Serbia-Kosovo accord is a nice step in the right direction and I guess so far so good - its a good economic accord but not a treaty its based upon the aspiration of economic normalisation which if you follow Kantian theory of Cosmopolitanism is the first step to reducing the propensity towards conflict. Let's hope it continues.

I mean I know its nice to think that the likes of Trump could get a Nobel but not in this universe...maybe there's one universe out there in the theoretical mulitverse where Trump actually has a viable brain cell, can function in a coherent fashion and does act in a rational manner and thus could be a practical candidate for a Nobel but....well...not here.

There was no war in North Korea nor did it stop Kim letting off rockets.

Wheres the peace he achieved?

Israel has diplomatic and economic relations with countries that used to claim they had no right to exist. You people are such hypocrites.

If Obama had accomplished that you would be crying with joy. Literally tears. You would have also wept if it was Obama taking a step into north Korea in a gesture of peace. To be fair republicans would have bashed him.

Since when did you libtards care about accomplishing anything? You are obsessed with symbolism. The gay black president walking a couple of steps with that Asian guy? You would be orgasmic.

Let me be as delicate as I can be here. If this is not an accomplishment to you then you do not deserve to be breathing the same air as normal people. Tough shit if you do not like Trump.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Accords.

The statement marked the first public normalization of relations between an Arab country and Israel since that of Jordan in 1994.

The agreement with the UAE was officially titled the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement: Treaty of Peace, Diplomatic Relations and Full Normalization Between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel.[5][6] The agreement between Bahrain and Israel was officially titled the Abraham Accords: Declaration of Peace, Cooperation, and Constructive Diplomatic and Friendly Relations, and was announced by the United States on September 11, 2020.[5]

On October 23, 2020, Sudan formally agreed to normalize ties with Israel and join the broader diplomatic realignment in the Middle East
In December 2020, Israel and Morocco agreed to normalize their relations in the Israel–Morocco normalization agreement,
After the signing of Abraham Accords, Bahrain appointed Khaled Yousif Al-Jalahma as the first-ever ambassador from Bahrain to Israel on March 30, 2021.
On August 13, 2020, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, announced the UAE's agreement to normalize relations with Israel

You had countries that did not acknowledge Israel's right to exist willing to have normal diplomatic relations and exchange diplomats. They also forged economic agreements.

FYI Trump's Jewish son in law also nominated for a Nobel peace prize.

Israel has diplomatic and economic relations with countries that used to claim they had no right to exist.
who gives a shit about Israel in this context?

If Obama had accomplished that you would be crying with joy. Literally tears.
Accomplished what?? The same wording as the one Trump did, no it would be equally as meaningless.

See you in another year I guess...?

Israel signed agreements that developed diplomatic relations with 4 Muslim countries for the first time ever.

No it is not meaningless.

Certainly we can find a poster from Scotland with more brains than that. Is Susan Boyle available?

and that has....what to do with the OP.....Trump being nominated for a Peace prize and your assertion that....
Trump deserves the nomination. He negotiated 4 peace treaties, 4 of them historic.

Look sunbeam...If you haven't got your shit together when making stupid comments that you can't back up or defend then don't make them in the first place. Banal subject changes to disguise a lack of understanding of your own comments is rather dumb and makes you look like.....
a brain dead moron
