The government could have printed money and used it to fund major capital prokects such as road and rail building, building social housing etc

This would have created loads of jobs, growth, tax revenues etc

Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt....it must be $8/hr then right? Nope, that is still above the poverty line. $7/hr? Nope. $6/hr? We are close now, but still nope. Even to look at a family of 4, with two parents making $7/hr, you come in several thousand dollars above the poverty line -- and note that minimum wage is $7.25 at its lowest.

So this notion that you portray that 1/3 of the workforce works for $9/hr or less (if this is even true) and is therefore poor (which was your statement) is simply not based in any factual reality.

For the government to print money -- it must first borrow or tax that money out of the economy from the private sector. Just because the bill won't come due for years doesn't mean that it will have no impact.

Time again for another lesson is it? Please try learning this time, for trying to teach you is extremely difficult. American Conservatives are not opposed to universal healthcare. We ARE opposed to the juvenile-minded attempt called "obamacare". American Conservatives understand that implimenting a pathetically-planned system that radically increases costs, places healthcare decisions in the hands of idiotic Government employees, causes doctors to refuse accepting Medicare patients, and creates un-Godly waiting periods before a suffering citizen can get care, is STUPID and harms our healthcare system. Leftists are too stupid to plan and implement intelligent programs.

Taxing the wealthy to help the poor is not slavery or socialism.

We already tax the wealthy! We often give those tax dollars to worthless, self-serving low-lives who are able to work and don't. It's sleezebags like them who should be getting criticized for not doing their fair share. If our Capitalist system was allowed to work as intended, we'd have millions and millions of additional citizens employed and paying taxes. Our nation succeeds when the most citizens are employed and paying taxes. Depending only on the small percentage of ultra-wealthy persons doesn't "cut it"! Programs like obamacare ensure that fewer businesses will thrive and prosper, will ensure that unemployment remains at high levels, and will ensure that the Government receives minimal, total-net tax receipts!

But what makes me laugh is that Conservatives, by and large, are overwhelmed with joy at the prospect of enormous spending on the military, way beyond anything that could conceivably be described as defence. You don't hear them squealing their half witted platitudes when money is taken from the people by the Government for killing other people

It's difficult to believe that someone can be wrong virtually 100% of the time.... you know the old expression, "Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut"? It might be best to find a blind squirrel to debate you so you might have an outside shot of winning it. Conservative Americans like myself do not rejoice in huge military expenditures. We realize that military expenses could be cut by 20% or more with no negative impact on our capabilities or readiness. I've argued as much here several times. As with most other things the government does, however, the government bureaucracy and regulations are such that military costs are 25% or more higher than what they should be.
