Fires of revolution sweep the Arab World

Re: Fires of revolution sweep the Aran World

typical right wingers...Democracy and freedom is so important...unless its outside then US then who cares?

I hope the people win and Egypt's government falls...and a peaceful election can be held for a new government and reforms.

Typical Left Winger... Thinks people riot for peace... Is that like screwing for virginity? He actually believes that a failed state will re-organize by way of peaceful elections and beneficial government reforms rather than the obvious result, the country devolving into a totalitarian islamic theocracy.

Mubarak is ruling with an Iron Fist

Mubarak appears on TV, defends security forces

CAIRO – Embattled President Hosni Mubarak has appeared on television for the first time since protests erupted demanding his ouster, and he says he will press ahead with social, economic and political reforms.

He is defending security forces' crackdown on protesters.

Protesters have seized the streets of Cairo, battling police with stones and firebombs, burning down the ruling party headquarters, and defying a night curfew enforced by a military deployment. It is the peak of unrest posing the most dire threat to Mubarak in his three decades of authoritarian rule.

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's parliament speaker says President Hosni Mubarak remains in control of the country despite chaos engulfing the capital and other cities.

Speaker Fathy Surour says: "Matters are in the safe hands of Hosni Mubarak and he will act and you will see these actions."

This is what exactly the Russians and Chinese do. But he must get a lot tougher like blood on the streets like 5,000 protesters killed. Start firing rounds of machine guns at the crowd. Put over 500 tanks and 2,000 soldiers and if you see a protester kill him!!! That will shut em up.

I dont see how democracy and freedom can coexist... It's not our job to ensure "democracy" in other nations it does more harm than good.

If Egypt becomes another islamic revolution it will cost Obama his job for re-election. Remember Jimmy Carter was blamed for the Iran crises back in 1979 that sparked the Iranian Revolution? Thats the Reason why Reagan became president. Samething can happen now. If Mubarak is overthrown it will cost Obama the presidency perhaps Sarah Palin will become another Reagan waiting in the wings.

The "mobs" in France did not burn down the ruling party HQ.

The fact is, the US media and administration have been caught on the hop by all this and nothing is funnier than watching dumbasses like Clinton and fox ( two tentacles of the same toxic octopus ) desparately trying to catch up.

If only the US citizens crushed by debt and wall street had the bollocks for this.

But they won't.

Absoutely not.

Comrade Stalin

Matters not what got burnt, the issue is who's doing it. A few cranky-pants morons. And that this administration got caught off guard is notsurprising but rather the norm. But much as cranky muslims burnig stuff in France wound up being nothing, so is this likely to be.

Damn Gen...you are right on...again.

This could easily turn out to be a repeat of Jimma Carter's disaster in Iran. The Islamic fanatics could get control of Egypt. And, we know BO is just as weak as Jimmy ever was. Maybe weaker.

We could be watching history repeating itself. We know BO's understanding of history is out in left field so he is bound to repeat it.

"Screwing for virginity"...that is very good. That should be the motto of the Left.

And of course you don't seem to care that the police where attacking protesters....killing some.

Its funny for all the talk by the right about how important it is to have there guns for a free society...when others try have to fight to actually have what we have...they could care less or support the dictator.

Funny: China has blocked the word "Egypt'' from the countrys popular Twitter-like service, while coverage of the political turmoil has been tightly restricted in state media. China's ruling Communist Party is very sensitive to any potential source of social unrest :)

What were the leaders of our revolution talking about at the time? It was the enlightenment era, where people were coming to understand the importance of individual rights and the need to limit government to prevent tyrrany and oppression. What are the opposition leaders of the Egyptian riots talking about? Well, the largest opposition group is the Muslim Brotherhood:

The Muslim Brotherhood is a religious and political group founded on the belief that Islam is not simply a religion, but a way of life. It advocates a move away from secularism, and a return to the rules of the Quran as a basis for healthy families, communities, and states.

The movement officially rejects the use of violent means to secure its goals. However, offshoots of the group have been linked to attacks in the past, and critics blame the Brotherhood for sparking troubles elsewhere in the Middle East. Many consider it the forerunner of modern militant Islamism. -CNN

You think hard core "right wing" religious fundamentalists in the US seek to establish an oppressive Christian theocracy... But in Egypt, you pretend that a Muslim organization with the stated goal of creating an Islamic state ruled by Sharia law (No rights for women, the legal murder of gays etc.) will actually result in a fair and just democratic society where the rights of all are protected and people are treated as equals.

Pass some of whatever you're smokin.

So, what your are saying is, that the Egyptians should not have the God given right (as stated in our Decoration of Independence), to self determination and should remain a dictatorship because the status quo benefits the U.S.? Hmmmm? Sounds like Iran all over again. How did that work out for us?

Pass some of whatever you're smokin.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a small part of this, this anger is aimed at a corrupt oppressive Dictator. Notice the lack of Death to America, or attacks on US or western interests. There are reports of the Army fighting the police who are known to have tortured people who have spoken out for human rights , democracy, freedom or speech, and anything else the government does not like.

If you wish to side with dictators who oppress there people....I will support the people who are protesting for new leaders, jobs, and major reforms.

Its funny for all your talk about liberty and freedom...you seem to believe those rights should be enjoyed only to the US border..and the rest should do what we want.

With W in charge we could go to war with little on the right saying no dont...even when the WMD evidence was more and more shady ( and then found to be all wrong and or lies) but then it was about Democracy for Iraq....but since Obama is in office...its asking to much to even just side with people pushing for the same thing themselves in Egypt it seems. "6 April" is the group who have rose up not the Muslim Brotherhood..who of course joined later
