"Marijuana retailers in Rhode Island generated $8.7 million in total sales, from Feb. 23 to March 23.

The sales total for adult-use and medical cannabis products in the nation’s tiniest state represented a 17.4% increase month-over-month, according to the latest data from the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation.

Adult-use sales, which launched Dec. 1 with five retailers, accounted for nearly 62% of sales, or $5.4 Million, during that time period."

"The Veterans Medical Marijuana Safe Harbor Act has been reintroduced in both chambers of Congress. The legislation, introduced in the Senate by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) and in the House of Representatives by Congressional Cannabis Caucus co-chairs Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and David Joyce (R-OH), provides a temporary five-year “safe harbor” during which veterans will not be punished for state-legal cannabis use and VA doctors will be able to officially recommend medical cannabis in accordance with state laws. The VA would also be mandated to study the potential benefits of cannabis for veterans to treat pain, PTSD, and other conditions."
 
"The Governor indicated that he will allow both bills to become law absent his signature. The Governor last year vetoed a bill similar to HB 1.

“I came to this decision because I believe we’ve spent far too much time focused on this issue, when Delawareans face more serious and pressing concerns every day,” he said. “It’s time to move on.”

Provisions in the measure also provide for the automatic review and expungement of criminal convictions specific to misdemeanor marijuana violations."
 
"A team of British investigators assessed the association between cannabis potency and mental health outcomes in a cohort of 410 cannabis consumers. Participants in the study were either in their late teens or early 20s. About one-half of the cohort were daily consumers. Study subjects provided responses to questionnaires regarding their preferences toward higher strength, standard strength, or lower strength herbal cannabis. Participants also provided researchers with samples of their own cannabis products for potency analysis."

Researchers affiliated with New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine investigated the effects of CBD in vitro using human osteoprogenitor cells and in vivo via a murine femur fracture model.

They reported that human cells pre-treated with CBD showed significantly higher levels of osteocalcin – a bone-producing hormone. They also reported that CBD-pretreated mice exhibited more rapid bone healing than controls."

"Democrat Gov. Wes Moore signed legislation today implementing a voter-approved referendum legalizing the production, sale, and use of cannabis.

The measure (Senate Bill 516) permits existing medical cannabis dispensaries to apply (for a fee) for dual licensure to sell to the adult-use market beginning this July. (Regulators would need to start approving additional marijuana business licenses by July 1, 2024.)

The new law also increases the amount of cannabis that qualified patients may possess (up to 120 grams of cannabis flower and/or up to 36 grams of THC in infused products) and it also permits them to grow up to four plants at home. (Patients previously had not been permitted to engage in home cultivation.)"
