I am not aware of any cuts in social security being advanced. But if they were then they are sorely needed to keep the system from collapsing and hopefully they were accompanied by a concurrent cut in premiums (laugh, choke).

I am not debating the gun culture in the USA. We are just saying we are different. We ban most guns after the Port Arthur shooting here. The Conservative and Labor parties are united on this. When two Olympic sports men posed with guns in the USa they were condemned here and told by the Olympic committee to go home after their events. This is the photo than caused the uproar

I seriously doubt that any of the weapons the boys were pictured with were used in that crime. And it seems that some Australians see the silliness of the committee's action. Good thing they didn't go hunting, Lord knows what the committee would have done.

no kidding. and I thought the US was wussified. you can jump on the back of a 12 foot croc and wrestle it into submission but God forbid you bee seen in the same zipcode as a firearm.

Ah, yes I can see why that photo was so shocking! I mean, the way that swimmers boobs are on display by the crossing of the guns just like a criss-cross bra! :D

Seriously, I am saddened that your country had to experience an event like the Port Arthur Shooting and I wish certain people in our country did not idolize gangster culture but in all honesty the blame is misplaced if anyone blames the guns and not the people who choose to use guns or knives or hand-grenades or molotov cocktails or whatever weapon of choice was the flavor of the day.

Just in case anyone should make the mistake of thinking that an appreciation of guns is all about feelings of machismo - stats indicate that guns save more lives than they take.
