Alaska officials on Wednesday ruled that Alaska governor and former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin must pay back taxes to the IRS.

The exact amount the governor must pay is not yet known, but the Associated Press estimates she owes taxes on more than $17,000 in per-diem expenses.

State employees who live more than 50 miles away from Alaska's capital, Juneau, are entitled to state aid in the form of per-diem payments. Juneau is approximately 600 miles from Palin's home town of Wasilla, making the governor eligible for the payments.

But before she accepted the vice presidential nomination, Palin charged the state for over 300 nights spent in her Wasilla home, not the governor's mansion in Juneau. Her expenses usually amounted to $60 per day

Personally I think Palin's looks are vastly overrated. If you compare her to other female politicians, she's all right..but you're dealing with a small pool of almost exclusively elderly women.

Put Palin in against the female population as a whole and she's no better than average. You right wing viagra filled jerks need to adjust your glasses.

or did she just find out that she needs to pay these taxes because someone just told her?

If she is a snake in the grass like Tom Daschle, Timothy Geitner are, trying to raise your taxes while they wont pay thier own unless someone gives them a job they want then have at her.

If a judge just said recently you need to pay taxes on this because we just decided its taxable, you should spend more time defending egg head cuz he needs it

why don't you worry about all those loser that your president hired for his cabinet. They willingly refused to pay taxes, yet when they knew they were getting a bone from Obama they decided to pay those back taxes.

Im going to make several posts here, but a few things, Popeye, as much as you might not like Palin, calling her Governor Bimbo on this forum is frowned upon. Please figure out something else to refer to her in the future.

she took money for travel...for staying in her home....and did not pay taxes on it...the fact a court told her she had to, does not change the fact she should
1. have paid taxes on it in the first place
2. not been getting the money anyway.

You are wrong here, she is still the Governor of Alaska. My home state, and she should be accountable to Alaskans.
When Alaska is facing a budget shortfall as we are right now, the Governor should be taking the lead in cost cutting measures. While I dont have a huge issue with her drawing per diem when allowed by State law, I do question why Alaska pays for the travel expenses of her children throughout the state with Sarah.
