Some religions must be false.

Putting it exactly: Either all religions are false, or all but one is false.

Why?

Religions are not consistent with other religions - eg Islam does not posit the existence of Ganesh the Elephant god of hinduism.

Therefore, only one or none can be correct, and many millions of people worship gods which don't exist.

Hi Masher - not being malicious at all mate......but you do come out with some drivvel at times :D :D

Definition of Religion - a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

.........why should they/it? Religions are not by definition inter-dependent upon each other for their core belief systems! Eskimos that worship........jeez......what....... Frozen Cod Steaks are hardly likely to have come into contact with the Sun Creme Worshippers of Baal but that does not mean that Nanook O' the North when he's praising the Almighty Fillet O' Cod doesn't attain nirvana or some form of comfort or solace!

Die Religion...ist das Opium des Volkes (Marx)

....(or in Nanook's case die Fisch Stabchen)

Therefore, only one or none can be correct, and many millions of people worship gods which don't exist.
........which Gods do exist!!???

Not all religions claim to be the only way, thus can be in fact true as well as others so the whole point of this thread is void.

I have Religion least likey to start a war or fight over Religion...Agnostic....no one would fight war over , I dont realy know :)

No one really knows, but agnostics admit it.

One day, you will die, then you will know what follows this life, that is, unless nothing does. In that case, you will never know.

So why worry about it in this life, when there is no way to know?

That was fairly incoherent. All religions claim to know the most fundamental sublime TRUTH. They can't all be right - it's as simple as that.

Name ONE.

Wican/Pagen "The Pagan view of other religions tends to be that they are the right religions for people who choose those religions. We have chosen our spiritual path, and they have chosen theirs. Because many of us believe in reincarnation, we feel that there is plenty of time for people to experience a variety of paths"

Buddist :"Because not everyone has the same inclinations and interests, Buddha taught various methods to different people. Citing this example, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said that it is wonderful that so many different religions exist in the world. Just as one food will not appeal to everybody, one religion or one set of beliefs will not satisfy everyone's needs. Therefore, it is extremely beneficial that a variety of different religions is available from which to choose. He welcomes and rejoices at this."

Hindu: from the Bhagavad Gita ,whatever form of God one worships it is in fact worship of Vishnu

Islam : Quran 2:62. "Those who believe [in the Quran], and those who follow the Jewish, and the Christians, and the Sabians, any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."

I'm sorry, you only asked for one.... :)

Because Christians, eg, don't believe in reincarnation, either "Wican" or Christainainty, or both, must be false.

Give the exact link, and show that at least the majority of buddhists support this view.

Hindu: from the Bhagavad Gita ,whatever form of God one worships it is in fact worship of Vishnu

Give an exact citation, and also a citation from an authoritative Hindu source that this means all religions are true.

Islam : Quran 2:62. "Those who believe [in the Quran], and those who follow the Jewish, and the Christians, and the Sabians, any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."

You're misinterpreting this. By God in this section, they mean Allah, not the Christian God. They recognize Christian and Jewish prohphets only.

sorry, you only asked for one.... :)

Your comments re the major religions are either false or inadequately supported with authoritative sources.

Wican can be correct, and by Defult then Christians where correct as well, as it was just there path...but does not make it wrong...The Reverse does not hold, Christans cant be right and have Wicans be correct as well.

as for the buddest you want a majority that belive it? that requires I have to also find polling to prove it, and I dont care to find polls on that area just for you.

"whatever form of God one worships it is in fact worship of Vishnu " umm how about any literate person can read what that says and see what it means?

Bhagavad Gita 17.3 "O son of Bharata, according to one’s existence under the various modes of nature, one evolves a particular kind of faith. The living being is said to be of a particular faith according to the modes he has acquired. "http://www.bhagavad-gita.us/articles/102/1
/Bhagavad-Gita-173/Page1.html

"Hinduism includes both monism and monotheism. It is misleading to call the Abrahamic religions,"the monotheistic traditions," implying that monotheism is absent from the Eastern traditions. Vedanta includes many monotheistic schools; They may accept the existence of many gods and goddesses, but strongly emphasise the pre-eminence of the Supreme Deity"

And Allah is the Christan God, and it is the Jewish God, its the same God. Same god, but Jews dont hold Jesus as the son of God, or God himself...and Muslims view Jesus as a Profit sent from God, must like Mahamad was, but not the son of God or God himself. But all 3 in fact worship the same God but with Different names. And all three trace the same roots back just branching off at different points.

Here's the Apostles Creed - every major christain group adheres to this with only minor variations. It is a FUNDAMENTAL doctrine of Christainity:

1. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
2. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
3. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
4. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
5. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.
6. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
7. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
8. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
9. the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
10. the forgiveness of sins,
11. the resurrection of the body,
12. and the life everlasting.

NO OTHER religion believes this - therefore either Christianity must be false, or all others must be false.

Although Christianity originated as a Jewish sect, the two are widely contradictory, not least of which in the divinity of Christ - both can't be correct.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_and_Judaism

Islam has many concepts alien to other religions: eg martyrs are promised 72 houris - no other religion promises this - both can't be correct.

Etc etc etc - give it up.

funny you think a all powerful god can't make more then one Religion be correct? God is so weak he cant have people have other ideas about Religion and follow threw on them both at the same time? You act as if God is a mortal man with constraints what it can do. God could in fact say that what you hold true on earth, I will make true in heaven in regards to Religion. So if one Religion believes X, one believes Y, God makes it happen for both.

if there is a all powerful god, it will not be as simple minded as you nor contrained by your view of what can be done.

That's a very interesting concept you have developed there. So let me ask you, how far can it go. Are there limitations to the concept?

If I believe that the earth is the center of the solar system and you believe that the sun is the center of the solar system, can god somehow make us both right in heaven?
