Hamas did not exist in 1948. Al Fatah did not exist, the PLO did not exist. There was no unity among the Palestinians in 1948. There was a much larger percentage of Palestinian Christians, They were favored over Muslims as immigrants in the West.

Israel is not cleaning up a mess, it is stealing land and resources in the West Bank and destroying the property and lives of everyone in Gaza, and of course, killing thousands of the people it has made homeless.
