Obama team responds to Palin pick

I'm sorry but everyone keeps bringing up the fact that her son is in Iraq and she has a son with down syndrome....... is that a great factor right now? I know plenty of women (single and married) with children in Iraq and some children has passed away and I know many struggling to supply better healthcare for their artistic children. Her state supplies her with great healthcare for her son. Is she struggling and do she feel what some of the people now today are feeling? When Mccain made the announcement this morning, I did not see or feel a connection between those two. Did you????
Please don't think that I am a mean person but those things doesn't stick out to me. I like to feel what a person is a saying. I guess Monday I will tune in to get a better in sight.

It was a huge issue when Biden's son was going to deploy, but when her's does it is not?

It is not a huge issue persay, except that it will bring in support from some working class and the military. Carrying the child with down syndrome to full term will also win her a lot of support in the pro life arena, which is vital to have them organized.

Believe me I asked the same thing when they went on with Biden's son. I guess I still have alot strife due to the fact that my family is over there and we haven't heard anything yet. My sister is artistic and it is murder (cost wise) paying for healthcare and finding government help for that. Our parents passed and I am 24 with an artistic sister, going to college for my BS in Criminal Justice, and no help with bills and help for her medication. Alot of people in my age group tell me to just place her somewhere but I can't do it. I'm afraid that she would not be treated right. That is why I am looking for someone who can really feel the pain that some of us are feeling now. I haven't heard Mccain say anything about healthcare improvement??????

That is why I said that I will get a better insight on their views. Some people just base their thoughts on one thing and close the door but I am wanting and needing a change so I keep an open mind.

McCain is all for healthcare for everyone. He just wants it to be a free market solution, and not a mandatory government intervention.

I laid out my own plan to solve the healthcare problem:

1) Eliminate the HMO - these were government creations that destroyed the free market for health plans and all but created a monopoly, and as we see always drives the price up.

2) Bring back tax cuts for individuals who purchase their own healthcare - right now it all goes to businesses, who only use HMO's and it keeps the cycle going.

etc etc...

Anyway, McCain is not opposed to healthcare for all people, it is just the method in which it is brought about is where the difference comes about.

See..I am just really just getting into the whole rim of politics. I guess I can be seen as one of those who get in a slump and is then ready to fight but could have been fighting before. I'm too honest right?? That is why I have decaded my self to learning about the candidates.

Right-O Rob! There are lots of positive steps we can take and policies we can either eliminate or implement (as the situation merits) to improve our health care/insurance issues in this country.

But since this is about Palin, I thought it might be good to see in her own words some of her thoughts regarding some health care issues. Of course, this is on the state scale in Alaska, but I believe that this type of attitude is where the solutions will surface.

I'd not be surprised if McCain "delegates" some sort of health care policy development to Palin. My educated guess is that it will prove to be an issue that she will bring some real benefit to.

If she really is a heartbeat away from the Presidency then all the Hillary supporters that wanted the first female president would have their best chance by voting for McCain.

And one vote taken from an otherwise Obama vote is worth two votes taken from an undecided voter.

No, getting into something as important to our day-to-day lives is a great thing! It's one of those things where "It's never too late until it IS TOO late..." And we are nowhere near that... at least still two months + away...

You can never be too honest. But honesty is best tempered by a good handle on facts. Ask many, many questions, listen to answers, but always do your best to confirm what it is you accept as truth. Not only the words, not only the source, but try to discern the motives behind what is said.

Too many people are too ready to quickly accept the answer that supports their predetermined positions. Right now, I'm trying to find as much as I can about Gov. Palin, and looking for sources that are not obviously intended only to throw mud on her. I want truth.

I tend to find that this website is a good general overview of where people stand on most issues.

That said, they have not done one on Palin yet, but you can see McCain, Obama, Clinton etc all decently. While this should not be your only source, it is a helpful overview.

Interesting thought there, Dr. She truly does add that element. Personally, I'd love to see a woman as President. I want a Margaret-Thatcher-type woman. I want an Indira Gandhi type. I know there are others I could cite, but those are the two who come to mind for me personally.

Actually, that's what I'd like in either a woman OR a man. I'm not into the woman-in-the-presidency-for-it's-own-sake mentality. Although I loved her phrase of Hillary Clinton leaving 18 million cracks in that glass ceiling...

Thatcher was a good one, but Gandhi was not really a good leader in my opinion. She moved more towards Socialism in my view than anyone else did.

It'll come, BigRob, and quickly no doubt! Thanks for posting that one, too. I had this bookmarked on my old computer, but I've had a heck of a time getting my old bookmarks onto my new one. Now that's one less to "miss". TY TY TY!

And here's another of my favorites that you've probably already got...

This is true, especially in the last few years of her life. I still admire her tenacity and spirit, in a time and place that was in need of strong leadership. The Populist and Socialist aspects were already there when she walked on the stage, but she unfortunately did move in that direction.

Hmm... from that aspect, it provides an excellent example of how much damage can be done when good intentions combine with class struggle (or envy) and a largely minimally educated population...

I bow to you!

Obama is a US senator representing a state with a population of almost 13 million.

Not relevent to an EXECUTIVE job.

He has been to Iraq,

Whoopee doo. :D So have hundreds of thousands of US soldiers, and unlike his phony photo-op tour, they were substantively involved, and there for a lot longer than 15 minutes - should they be president? :D

he has held assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations, Environment and Public Works and Veterans' Affairs and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He also became Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs.

He got his name put down on a bunch of committee membership lists - nobody would be fooled by that ruse, and he's been awol most of the time.

By contrast Palin has absolutely ZERO experience at all, she is the first term governor of a state with a population of approximately 670,000, many US cities are larger than that.

The "population" non-argument is stupid even for YOU - it has absolutely no correlation with leadership tests and abilities. Palin was the go-to girl, the person ultimately responsible for what happens in a state half the size of the lower 48 - all obama did was register his votes - when he wasn't absent. His executive experience is limited to community organizer for a single housing project - Palin ran a state for two years. Palin comes out ahead - no ifs. :)

So in effect she has been the mayor of a good sized US city for less than two years...that is the extent of her experience. Yet, 72 year old John McCain, complete with health issues, thinks she has the credentials to sit a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Obama by contrast is completely unqualified, less qualified than Palin by far, and would be zero heartbeats away from the presidency!

The dems have been gut-busted by this choice - and the Bot flunkies and lib media are having as hard a time as you in challenging it -- well no, you are somewhat worse. :D

Pakin is anti choice, even in cases of rape or incest. The only kind of woman that would for a McCain/Palin ticket is one that enjoys being treated as a second class citizen i.e, a doormat. That leaves out a great majority of female Clinton supporters.

Oh bull

anyone man or woman who thinks that life is important would be happy to vote for a pro life ticket.

Killing children is not a choice we should be making
