The Arabs revolted under British rule in a war that began in 1936. Who owned the land during that revolt? The British controlled the land but there were Jews and Arabs living on the land at the time. During WW2 the Arabs joined league with Hitler to annihilate the Jews in the Middle East, especially those Jews living on lands controlled by the British that now land belong to Israel.
The Palestinians started no wars. They were told by the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq to leave the area so that the armies of these five countries could treat the area as a free-fire zone and kill off anyone there. Those who did lost their land. Some of those who did not were driven off by the Haganna (the predecessor of the IDF), and others became "Israeli Arabs" and were given citizenship. The armies of the five countries were totally incompetent and corrupt and they lost.
