End of Ukrainian democracy, beginning of dictatorship

Throughout the war in Ukraine, I’ve been keeping a close eye on its domestic matters. Our country spends a lot to support Ukraine, and I want to understand where the taxpayers’ money goes.

Until recently, generally I agreed that we need to support Ukrainians. However, now that our country sends an enormous 60-billion-dollar package to Ukraine, weird things are happening. On the 20th of May, 2024 Volodymyr Zelensky’s presidential term ended (https://www.economist.com/europe/2024/05/16/volodymyr-zelenskys-five-year-term-ends-on-may-20th) but he claimed he refuses to leave the office. Moreover, he explained his actions by the impossibility of holding elections in wartime. I think the actual explanation is simpler: Zelensky and his team got so used to American help that they could keep stealing with no punishment.

This question has already been raised by our compatriots. Elon Musk has already made a joke asking if the US is there to really support democracy

Another influential American, congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, openly claims that Zelensky is now a true dictator
Surely, you might say that Zelensky will by all means have a high voters’ support and most Ukrainian citizens are likely to vote for him. But according to a poll, Ukrainians value the former Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny higher. People think of him as a national hero who, unlike Zelensky, literally fought for Ukraine (https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/31/europe/zaluzhny-oust-ukraine-army-zelensky-intl/index.html).

We really need to think whom we support in this war. If the US are really for democracy, we must demand this from its partner countries as well. Otherwise, soon, instead of Ukraine, we will have an angry monster with a true dictator as its leader. Our nation spends a lot of money on helping Ukraine so they must abide by democratic principles.

There are Christians in Ukraine laboring to help the innocent Ukrainian people suffering from godless government officials just as there are Christians in America laboring to help innocent Americans oppressed by godless officials in the US.

the past history here shows that christians oppressed blacks, women, minorities, gays, etc.
freedom in our country has improved as christian influence has waned.

You are still repeating the lying leftist perversion of history in which white democrats promoted slavery, not Bible-believing, God-honoring Christians.

Christian abolitionism in the United States can be traced back to the 17th century Quakers, or Religious Society of Friends, who were the first religious group to condemn slavery. Some examples of early Christian abolitionists in America include:

  • Moses Brown
Associated with Rhode Island Quakers who were among the first to free slaves in America
  • John Woolman
A Quaker who gave up most of his business in 1756 to campaign against slavery
  • John Wesley
Questioned the morality of slavery and became a supporter of the Society for Abolition of the Slave Trade in 1787

You use that term loosely. Hitler claimed to be a Christian and so does Biden. Is Biden in favor of slavery?

You clearly have no idea about the divisions between early American Christians over the issue of slavery.

I clearly understand early America was run by Christians and slavery was legal
And that the Bible condones slavery
These are facts, sorry if they make you upset

Getting a reference from MTG is the same as getting it from god. Nothing.

Approximately 80 % of the package is old military equipment already stored in Europe specially for that reason. A small portion is money.
When it co sumed new equipment will be manufactured in USA which will provide jobs and economic growth. .
As for telling Ukraine what to do, you're pissing against the wind. He will fight to the end and USA should support him until Putin is defeated.
A failure will result with communism expanding closer to Europe etc. Then it becomes a full blown war.
You better think before those silly claims.

You talk nonsense. The fact that the founding father with the most slaves was an atheist totally blows your crap theory out of the water.

Did the Christians have slaves? Did they?
How shocking.
That's against gods law.

Those Christians are so compassionate towards slaves. They assisted with the impregnation of the wives and restricted to floggings once a day.
Efforts which should used as an example to kids.

A large percentage of early Americans claimed to be Christians. An extremely small percentage of Americans owned slaves, and many slave owners were not professing Christians. Here are some figures:

In 1860, slavery was still legal in 15 of the 33 U.S. states, and slaves represented nearly a third of the population in those slaveholding states.

At the time, the total U.S. population was about 31.4 million, including more than 3.9 million slaves. That left about 27.5 million free people in the U.S., according to 1860 data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The U.S. had 395,216 slaveholders at that time, so about 1.4% of free people were classified as slave owners in the 1860 census, according to data archived by the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series at the University of Minnesota. That’s slightly different from the 1.6% in the July 11 Facebook post. ...

Evaluating the share of households that owned slaves in seceding states is “a much more effective means,” said Joseph Glatthaar, history professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In 1860, nearly 20% of households in seceding states owned slaves, he said.

You see how small a percentage of Americans in the North owned slaves. Early American founding fathers were not from the South.
