Hi, I'm New Here

I'm Tantalus, and just signed up for this forum. It's hard to categorize me . I'm much too liberal for conservatives, but left-wingers think I'm much too conservative . I've annoyed a lot of people of all political persuasions on the internet . I call them as I see them .
I'm pro-choice, pro gay rights and have no problem with same sex marriage, am for REASONABLE gun control but opposed to making them illegal and have no problem with law-abiding citizens owning guns and using them responsibly . I just think it shouldn't be too easy for deranged individuals to get them .
I believe absolutely in separation of church and state . I'm not anti-christian, just anti-theocracy, or anything that leads America closer to it . I have no problem with sane,rational and tolerant Christians, but am frightened by religious loonies of any faith .
I believe in the free market and capitalism , but am absolutely opposed to denying a safety net to those in need . I've never been a socialist,Marxist or communist , but am totaly opposed to the opposite of communism, which is a total laissez-faire, dog-eat-dog, merciless, capitalism where those down on their luck are screwed .
I believe that what consenting adults do in private is absolutely no business of the law , the government or the police , and I do not want the government to censor and ban anything those in power happen to find sexually offensive , because not everyone agrees on what is offensive, and I don't want to open up the slippery slope toward the government telling Americans what they may or may not read or view in private or in public .
But I am NOT the kind of stereotypical left-wing, politically correct, multicultural America-hating, blame America for all the world's ills ,paranoid about racism and sexism loony conservatives love to bash . I don't hate the military or our troops .
I don't like jingoistic, chauvinistic mindlessly uncritical of America patriotism, either .

you sound like a moderate democrat who does not know that half of your issues of what your not as a liberal...are made up crap that most liberals are not anyway but republicans like to say.

None of the liberals I know hate America..none hate the military.
