That's more like it...now that the religious neanderthal is out of the WH, it's time for us to look toward the future and catch up with the rest of the scientific world.

ABC News has learned that on Monday morning President Obama will hold an event at the White House in which he signs an executive order overturning the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.

The announcement will be about "restoring scientific integrity to health care policy," an administration official tells ABC News.

No ban? Restrictions on the federal funding of embryonic stem cell research have slowed scientific research into and potential advances in the treatment of such diseases as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, spinal cord injuries and a myriad of others.

It's about time we stopped basing policy on religious based right wing talking points....

How can he overturn a ban when it was never banned?

Early in his Presidency, George W. Bush announced a program where all forms of stem cell research would be freely permitted, including the controversial embryonic form. He even provided lots of Federal funds for most of it. All kinds of stem cell research have been proceeding since then, without exception, again including Embryonic stem cell research. Bush did not hand out Federal funds for that type, but otherwise let it proceed freely with no restrictions of any kind.

Various leftists have been fibbing about it ever since, trying to pretend he had banned something, when in fact it had been going on before, during, and after his presidency.

Note that, despite the large amounts of money spent on embryonic stem cell research (and other kinds), embryonic research has never produced any cures, vaccines, new procedures, or any other benefits. All such benefits have come from research into adult stem cells. Yet the leftist hysterics keep acting like (a) embryonic has been banned, and (b) progress in fighting medical problems has been harmed, when neither one is true.

You have to feel sorry for a political agenda whose only workable tactic is telling lies about the opposition in hopes that someone will believe them.

We the tax payer was not funding it but private people were and they were getting no where

on the other hand adult stem cell research is making a great deal of progress.
