Obama's "Republican Slap-Down II" Is SET!!!

The trump card is, of course, the debt aspect of all this and I hope the GOP hammer him with this. Even the bllue dogs say tackle the costs savings first (and as is not being suggested seriously now) and then look at the rest.
Hey....as-long-as Republicans insist that health-care orgs are THE only option (as-opposed-to The Public Option or expanding Medicare), who's really driving-UP costs, here???

How 'bout the taxpayers quit $UB$IDIZING health-insurance-orgs?

THAT'D save some serious federal-buck$!!!!!

"Boehner had been a rather vocal supporter of C-SPAN's request to televise the earlier negotiations, writing to the network in January that "House Republicans strongly endorse your proposal and stand ready to work with you to make it a reality."

Well now, it seems, the idea of televising the health care summit has Boehner a bit squeamish."

FEBRUARY 12, 2010

"The Obama administration on Friday invited 12 Democratic members of Congress and nine Republicans to a February 25 conference on healthcare and said it would post its proposal for a legislative overhaul online before the event.

President Barack Obama has asked Republicans to bring their best healthcare ideas to the conference on revamping the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system. The issue, critical to his domestic agenda, has floundered since Democrats lost their crucial 60th Senate vote last month, in the face of united Republican opposition and public skepticism.

The meeting will be broadcast live, answering criticism that the Democratic president did not engage Republicans and instead negotiated back room deals in an effort to get legislation passed.

The invitation letter said the White House will post the text of its proposed health overhaul package online before the meeting, and invited Republican leaders to post their own bill online as well.

"Now is the time to act on behalf of the millions of Americans and small businesses who are counting on meaningful health insurance reform," said the formal invitation, from Rahm Emanuel, Obama's chief of staff, and Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of health and human services."

Better start POPPIN' THE "GO"-PILLS, JOHN BONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya' got some SLEEPLESS-NIGHTS AHEAD O' YA'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Desperation IS setting-IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, on the part of the Democrats who, even with a large majority, could not get the job done.

The question I have to ask, why 12 Democrats, and only 9 Republicans? Is this going to be the usual sideshow where Democrats will dominate the Q&A session?

Then too, why would Obama need to have the Republicans bring their plans forward so he can look at them? Grassley offered Durbin a whole binder filled with the Republican bills, and amendments, that the Democrats refused to consider (and then lying with their BS that the Republicans had offered nothing), and there is a website for Obama to look at if he is truely interested.

So, the whole thing is shaping up to be yet another dog and pony show leaving the people to wonder who is the dog, or who is the pony, Obama, or the Democrats.

Republicans have definitely moved to implement Plan III (or, maybe they're up to Plan IIII, by now)...Stage FRIGHT!!!!

It appears....rather than showing-off their own plans, in a public-way, they've decided Behind-Closed-Doors might be more-appropriate.

I think the Republican game plan is to force the Dems to try and pass the bill via reconciliation, retake the house and senate in 2010, then retake the white house and repeal the law (if passed) in 2012.

A majority of Americans don't support this plan. The reason is the process used to develop it, and the uncertainty that it will lead to any improvement over the current situation and add trillions to an already unsustainable debt. It's called a loss of confidence, and I'm not sure there's anything the existing leadership can do at this point to win it back. This is what happens when you turn your agenda over to Nancy Pelosi.

This also means there will be no improvement over the status quo for a long time. Bummer--better leadership could've avoided that, but it's too late now, and blaming the Republicans only makes it so much more farcical. How did Reagan get anything done with an opposition controlled house, and a slim majority in the senate?
