So organized crime went away when alcohol was made legal again?
No -- it is an economic problem.
Prison should be for those who violate the law -- and since drug use is illegal -- prison should be for them as well.
If someone views drugs as their "way out", then the education system has failed them completely -- because that is pure lunacy.
J walking is also against the law, does not mean Prison is where they should go.
No it did not go away when Booze was made legal again...but it took quite a hit..until it replaced booze with drugs..got even more money and even more guns.
Its a economic problem? sure if by that you mean its economically very profitable to sell illegal drugs. Its not like its only the poor selling or useing drugs...I saw far far more drug use when I went to school at a more well off school then when I went to the poorer one. And lots of them sold drugs as well. And the poor who do sell don't stop when they get money...because...its often Easy large paychecks...even the middle class like easy big paychecks.
The Education system is not to blame if someone things, damn I should do Heroin..thats Parents, economics, Education ( though find me one person who ever did heroin or meth was bad) and overall a feeling today with the poor..that there is no more American dream its dead. IF you have money your good..if you don't your most likey going to stay there because the system is set to keep you there. You don't need to be a rocket scientist go into the sub burb schools around here...and then the ones in the city..and see what schools are getting the most funds.
But regardless what one thinks the cause of the issue is...one thing is for sure...Putting more people in Prision per capita then any other nation...is not fixing the problem. And a guy watching the Simpsons smoking pot is not someone we need taking up space in jail when we have far worse criminals being let out for lack of space..
