Obama has closed the gap, and Hillary will be pushed out quicker than expected. After being over 100 down, Obama is now tied in the super delegate race with Clinton. I have the feeling that Hillary will drop out after next week's race. This will allow the Democrats to heal thier wounds and focus on winning in November.

(CNN) – A Young Democrats of America board member threw her support to Sen. Barack Obama on Sunday, bringing Obama to a tie with Sen. Hillary Clinton in the superdelegate race.

Crystal Strait, 28, became the 273rd superdelegate in Obama's column, by CNN's count. Clinton had 273 Sunday as well — technically 273.5 because of some Democrats Abroad superdelegates who are given half a vote each.

Obama holds a large enough lead among pledged delegates that many believe Clinton's presidential aspirations for 2008 are virtually over.

But neither candidate is expected to have the 2,025 total delegates to win, so superdelegates — elected representatives and other party insiders given seats the party's convention — will ultimately award the nomination. A flood of superdelegate endorsements for Obama could effectively end the
Democratic race.

DCW now has Obama leading in SDs 275-270.5.

YES WE CAN!

I detect a trend.

If superdelegates just bail and go with the candidate with most pledged delegates, they've simply shown themselves to be redundant.

What do you want them to do, overturn the will of the people and split the party? Though I'm sure that would make people such as yourself happy, the SDs are supposed to do what is in the best interest of the Democratic party. The people have chosen, Obama will be the nominee, the Supers are simply ratifying it.

Then why did the democrats create them in the first place, if they're just going to put a rubber stamp on what the majority of pledged delegates say? In fact, if there was ever a case when they should overturn the pledged delegates vote, this is it, when both candidates had high approval, but one, Hillary, did better in what counts for the election - electoral college results. But I am happy they are going with the weaker candidate. :) Dems have totally lost sight of the fact that it is extremely rare that a leftwinger can be elected president.

Electoral College results? You can't take primary results, between two Democrats, and then assume the same thing is going to happen in the GE between Obama and McCain. Apples and Oranges.

You and most other Repubs were all set to run against Hillary and her high negatives, now that it's become apparent it will be Obama instead disappointment appears to have set in. I wonder why?

Btw, Obama has picked up 4 more superdelegates today. According to DCW Obama now leads in SDs 279-270.5.

Thanks for the update Popeye. Even though she will probably win big tomorrow in WV, look for her to really be backing away. Once the party is post primary season, and everyone settles down and catches thier collective breath from a hard fought race. Then it will be time for a country on the move to the left, to have a close look at the guy in the race who has taken some very big steps right. I am not sure he knows which is which at his age though.
Its a shame really the GOP is putting out a good American and what many would call a war hero out to be a sacraficial lamb(I certainly do consider him a war hero) this election season.

The two people most responsible for this dramatic shift left...none other than Bush and Cheney. We can thank them for the raise of Obama.

Don't be too hurt if the Democratic Party doesn't take any advise from someone who calls himself Libsmasher.

You need to get over there and pump some vitamins & Viagra into Bush's best buddy John... LoL!!!

You are taking the candidate least favored in the electoral college sense - that's a fact. The dems will be helped by chosing a candidate LESS FAVORED by dems in the states that count? Yaaaaaa surrrre - makes lotsa sense. :)

I am DELIGHTED that it is Obama and not Hillary, NOW the republicans have a good chance. :D

After Bush the Republicans never really had a good chance. Polling shows something like 85% of Americans think we're on the wrong path. That's counts BIG TIME in a general election because of Independents. Plus the advantage goes big to the Dems this go around in new voter registration as well.

On the numbers I just heard a political strategist on the radio today talking about the electoral college thing. The fact is if you look at the raw numbers of people that have voted in the primaries for both Obama & Clinton put them together and even then reduce that number by a third or more it should still swamp the Republican vote even in some usually Red States.

I just want the primaries to conclude so we can get to the head to head match ups. Put McCain and Obama on a stage somewhere together a few times and let's take a look.

McCain OLD WAY CONTINUATION OF BUSH DOCTRINE... with a little more war thrown in by a guy that's well known for being somewhat of a hot head and is really showing some of the more negative signs of old age.

Or a younger more positive JFK type of leader in Senator OBAMA that promises to extract us from a Civil War in Iraq that we should have never gotten quagmired into in the first place. And stop the hemorrhaging of $12 BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH that is only at the beginning in it's snowballing negative effects on our economy here in the United States.

Lookin' forward to it myself! I think it's Barack & Roll Time! :)

We democrats have taken careful aim at our own foot with a 12 gauge shotgun and opened fire. Once again we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Obama will be our nominee and Mccain will be the next president.

Even a cursory look at the racial voting patterns in the democratic primary makes this obvious. The pattern is consistent with similar ethnic voting patterns the world over. With the posible exception of religion, race dominates the election outcome. Competence and ideology are only of concern when ethnicity isn't a concern.

But hey, maybe a 94% black vote for Obama isn't really what it looks like.

I am faithfully part of those polls.

Rasmussen
Zogby

when it asks you if you think we are on the wrong path it doesnt let you pick from a list of why.

you might say bush is an idiot and its all his fault
i might say congress is just flat retarded and bush wont secure our borders.

I had to say we are on the wrong path but it was not for any of the reasons you might say we are on the wrong path. I know others who did what I did and in the end of the poll they let you type suggestions. i always put give us some options as to why we feel like we do.

I think you are right. I bet Clinton would of cleaned the floor with McCain, but I do not think Obama will be able to.

we could call him Jimmy Carter the second, and it would really apply :)

I think you overlook the negatives that people feel about Hillary. If she is somehow the nominee, I will be probably support McCain.
