The consequences of Obama: Terrorism is back

Way to pull together. Let's point fingers and bog the system down to the point that we can't even defend ourselves. Did dems get behind Bush? Do reps get behind Obama? Gee, let me think....

I got it! Reps would rather Obama fail than save innocents. Is Obama that repugnant to you?

No Bush Got 90% approval when Sept 11 happened...then he failed us after of course...but he was supported after the attack....

Obama...Bashed for a failed attack that killed no one, but then again we know it was Obama who failed to Frisk the guys undies in Niger right?

If only our President cared and had enough gumption to get something done he would have been there himself in Amsterdam working the xray machine and doing the pat downs. Maybe if he was more like the last guy.

Obama dectractors arent really that good of Americans. They should support the troops.

I get your point, but how long can we give this President a free ride on all of this stuff. Give me a date when we can start making him accountable? Same goes for this Congress...when can we start holding them accountable.
I think he should be held accountable for things that he can control. There is little question to me that GWB was the worst President of my life, but I didnt hold him directly responsible for 9/11 nor did I think he was responsible or somehow dropped the ball when the shoe bomber incident happened.

I think PFOS spoke very well to the point that in modern America a determined person can find ways around security, especially if they have a death wish.

And the next walk in a mall, so make malls armed fortresses...so next ones hit a office building.....Fact is, that the goal of terrorism does not only apply on a airplane, or in a airport...they just have wet dreams about them for some reason...and each time we will say..why did they not have x there...fact is we will get hit, and they will find ways around our Security..unless we want to turn into East Germany or something.

Just like you can racial Profile...only to hear the crys after...why did this guy not get noticed? sorry he was white or black and from Canada or something...they have a world reach, they can , will and have found people who don't fit profiles to help them.

Unless we want to strip seach inside and out evry person that walks into a airport...they will always be risks, and those who want, in time, will find ways to attack...

There will be those who will sacrifice evrything for safey, but they are whimps and should just stay home and hide from the world...To go to the extreams we would need to be "Safe" are not things I would want in a Free Society. what we need is more money, more manpower, and more people who understand the terrorist and motives...not more poltical crying that one leader is somehow responsible for our intel people getting the info, but not able to put it all together....While people cry Obama should have.x...they need to shut up and think for once...becuse fact is, most of the Politicy in place...was in fact set up before he was in office...Sure someone could have fixed it after...but there is plenty of blame here to act like this is somehow all Obamas fault or Bush's....The failing sounds like it happened due to a turf war, or just a lack of someone being able to put the puzzle together, or maybe there was a system lacking to get the info to someone with correct knowlage to work see the pattern.....most of the info, by themself The CIA when they got word that the father thought his son may have fallen in with radicals...looked at it and thought it was more of a father worried about a missing son....had they also have teh intel that others had that a group in Yemon was possibly working on a plan with someone who fit a very basic description of the son, could have figured maybe there was more to it, but even with the same intel,,,,,not evryone may think, welll clearly its the same person....but maybe it may have been enough to get more intel...but we will never know now.

Most important is that try to share our intel as best we can, and get the best we can to look over it and try to make heads and tails of what is talk, what is real, and who is a religious exreamist...vs who is actuly willing to commit terrorism...

I agree with your idea of better intel sharing, and that the whole intelligence world is far to political and full of power barons.

With that said, here is where we don't agree. It doesn't take a huge leap to secure a facility from 98% of all potential bombs and firearms. There are sniffing devices that can be placed at entry ways which could alert security within seconds of anyone passing that has handled nitrates. With video capture devices, which are already in place, this could be done so quickly and smoothly the security process would be almost unnoticeable.

If you think this can't be done, guess again. It is already in place at several international airports and all large international casino's. Caesar's Palace has better bomb detection and security than our airports.

See that is where you and I will differ. I held Bush responsible for not protecting us on 9/11 and the shoe bomber as well. It was is his job to keep us safe and the buck stops with management.

Just because the attack failed doesn't mean it was any less of a risk. The technology and capability is there to increase our safety 10x, but Pres. Obama's eye was not on his primary duty. Instead, he was worrying about legislation which by law is not his job!

All I'm asking for is for there to be proactivity instead of reactivity. There is a military saying, "One second late is one second dead." Unlike the IT world where latency costs money, in the HLS and DoD latency costs lives.

OK now put them on evry airport in the world, and pay for it please, also bomb sniffing tech is not 100%...so what kind do you think they would use? stuff that gets past...Sept was done with box cutters...

Please name the last president that did his job then

Sept 11
Kobal Towers
Ok City Bombing
Unibomber
Beruit
Iran hostages
Pan am 103
Shoe bomber
William Buckley, CIA kidnaped killed
83 bombing of US Embassy Kawait..killed 5 , only stopped at gates
just to name a few

fact, we will lose some. Get use to it...but we can kill a hell of a lot of them while try try.

Why are you guys freaking out about airport terrorism, and not about things that are about equivalently likely to kill you, like lightning strikes and stray deer?

"Oh God, some people, somewhere, almost DIED! Let's blame a bunch of politicians for not keeping us safe! But only if the cause of them almost dying was terrorism. I don't care about those damn deer victims. And never mind that I'm probably more likely to get killed by the crazy taxi driver on my way to the airport, it's the terrorists that really frighten me. They wear funny things on their heads!"

Good point, we are not safe under Obama no matter what they say!

As sweet as all the Obama bashing is surely the point is being missed. This was an intelligence failure on the part of many agencies thus the test for Obama is surely to organise the US intelligence community into something much better and more efficient.

The "war on terror" has been going on for sometime thus one would have assumed that Obama's predecessor would have addressed these issues and had systems in place to deal with such issues!

I had this posted as a separate topic but it was just sitting down there being ignored {heavy sigh}.

Using 'MENTAL MIDGETS' to dictate our COLOR CODE ALERT SYSTEM!
Did terror 'con man' dupe the Pentagon?

Jan. 6: Investigative journalist Aram Roston describes how Dennis Montgomery was able to convince the CIA that he could decode messages from al-Qaida.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/...24778#34724778
So it would appear that the previous administration really, really didn't have a clue and wasted MILLIONS of dollars on Snake OIL SALESMAN/CRYSTAL BALL PSYCHICS and would allow the DANGER COLOR CODE to be manipulated according to the 'NEED' for the scare tactics to keep the polls where he wanted them...worked for a while anyway...but then the public started getting bored with the rhetoric/lies and found out about the manipulation;)

The SH!T just keeps floating to the surface for what G.W.B. & Company did to this country all out of our being SCARED of THOSE TERRORISTS!

where I live, I am far more afraid of the deer lol

Still misquoting Thomas Jefferson, I see. Well, good on you. Let's perpetuate the reich wing. Hope you are proud, to misquote Jefferson, a real patriot. And one that you wish would support your stupid ass.

We have ignored the deer threat for far too long. Too many innocents have died because of the car wrecks these furry menaces have caused. The deaths continue year after year, and yet we ignore them. I say it is time for a war on deer, so that we never again lose another innocent life to these antlered monstrosities. Send in the army to occupy their forests and build fences around our roads. If we do nothing they will only grow more bold.
