Voters in my state are stupid

Poor you, must suck with extra job securty, better pay, better benifits...awww poor you..

You have the freedom to work someplace else....Is that not what republicans always say when Union people are mad about there workplace trying to do something...does it not apply to you?

I could go someplace else and make more money than I currently am but have less benefits like the day after Thanksgiving off as a paid holiday. I have almost 22 years in so it would not be wise to walk away right now when my PERS is just around the corner.

But that is not the point I was making. No one should be forced to be in a union no matter where you work. I am perfectly fine with unions being around; I am just not ok with being forced to be in one just to keep a job. And I am not ok with the unions charging very large dues that they use for trips in places like Hawaii and Las Vegas and I am not ok with them giving our money the democrat party.

If unions are so fantastic there should be no reason to force people to be in them and if they were voluntary then the unions would be forced to actually do things for the workers rather than themselves.

If corporations charged dues to work for them and spend the money on themselves and the republican party I would be just as disgusted. The only difference is… You would be too :)

The pinheads all voted for Mitt Romney

I could argue that no matter who they picked, if they picked anyone that wants the position of President, then those voters are stupid.

It really doesn't matter who they pick anyway. Mitt was chosen, and he will be the candidate on for that side. So again, we will have to out of touch morons to choose from.

No wonder the hole we are in keeps getting bigger.

those dues are what are used to actually provide services for you...you provide service to the company...If you could just opt in and out of them...then everyone would opt out...untill they needed it...and then want it..or opt out and just take all the benefits from those who actually pay in to make there they are protected.

doesn't work as you suggest in right to work states like mine.

So, you recognize that you have received, and will receive much more in the future, a lot of advantages from being part of an union, but you would have wanted the "freedom" not to be a participant in that union, especially not having to pay a few dollars a month to the Union.

Well, I am certain that EVERYONE, if giventhe choice to get all the benefits, without having to pay their participations, would choose to save those few dollars a months!

But that wouldn't be fair, would it?

You have had tsenty two years to leave your union job. You chose not to. You coulsd still leave today, and I know you would get a sizeable pensions, though a smaller percentage of your current salary as you would get in 3 years.

NO ONE forced you to stay in an organization that you seem to despise and that you bad mouth at every turn! twenty two years is a LONG time to discover how bad off you are because of the Union!

So stop being fake. Either continue your work (and your paricipation) in PERS without bad mouthing the hand that feeds you and has fed you for the last 22 years, or find another, non-unionized job.

either way, you WILL profit from your "horrible" period of "forced" participation in that union because of that steady, decent pension you will have.

I know of no service our union provides for us unless you want to call arguing at the bargaining table a service, the rest of our money is donated to democrats running for office and used for retreats for the union reps and then of course there is the once a year coffee meet and greet, I guess we buy the donuts :)

Why couldn’t any job that has a union have two contracts? One contract for union members and one for the non-union members? Whatever the union bargained for their group is only for union people and those who do not want to be part of a union bargain’s directly with the employer like any other company without a union?

then I would suggest you A..just don't know what they are doing for you ( the most likey I would say) or B your Union happens to be poorly run...and thats not the fault of Union Laws...thats the Fault of poor leadership of your Union...that as a Member...you could actually try to change.

Everyone around my work knows we have a very poor quality union and that really makes my point. Why should we be forced to be part of a poor quality union or any union and what would make the union work harder for the money they take from the members? Right now they don't have to do squat and they still get our money but if we were not forced to join the union then they would have to work hard to earn our trust and to get people to want to be part of the union. I see no problem with having the right to not be part of the union, you just have a different contract with the employer that you self-bargained as does every other non-union person. I wager some non-union members would get better contracts than union members would, perhaps that is the fear?
