Re: New poll shows Obama/McCain in a dead heat

Of the 14 polls currently listed at RCP 6 have Obama leading by at least 8%, only 1 has him leading by less than 4%...the AP poll. Obama's average lead is 7.3%, the AP poll is an obvious outlier.

The AP are liars??? They're the only ones that being sincere about this...
Other polls are run by the major news networks and calling this race won by Obama since last week.

I remember them doing the same with Hillary when they were asking her to leave the race. Only for her to come back and win the last races by huge margins... Remember, like 35 % ?

Re: Socialist Equality Party Platform for the US elections

Not at all. It would be a delight.

Lets us compare ...say...Cuba with Haiti.

Your move.

Comrade Stalin

Actually, comparing Cuba to Greece would be much more fair, as their populations are closer to being the same.

I never said the AP were liars, I said the poll was an outlier much like the Pew poll in the other direction which gives Obama a 14% lead.

An outlier is defined as a statistical observation that is markedly different in value from the others.

Re: Socialist Equality Party Platform for the US elections

More scholarship is needed

"....Searching the Lenin archives, as well as books by and about Lenin at
Questia and NetLibrary, have not elicited anything either.

You are correct, and I suggest you get right on it.

Edvard Radzinsky offers a similar quotation on p. 209 of his Stalin. He attributes it to the artist Yuri Annenkov, who claims to have seen some of Lenin's papers, along with his brain, while working at the Lenin Institute, before his emigration to the West in 1924, the same year Lenin died.[2] Annenkov's reproduction from memory was published in "Vospominaniya o Lenine" Novyi Zhurnal n.65 (New York,1961). Radzinsky conjectures that this is part of a full text of Lenin's Testament, which Lenin deliberately concealed, sending only a partial text to the Party Secretariat.

This English language version was originally published in an edition of The Lufkin News, King Featurers Syndicate, Inc., 31 July 1962, page 4, and later reproduced in the Freeman Report, 30 Sept. 1973, page 8.[3]

“ The so-called cultural element of Western Europe and America are incapable of comprehending the present state of affairs and the actual balance of forces; these elements must be regarded as deaf-mutes and treated accordingly....
A revolution never develops along a direct line, by continuous expansion, but forms a chain of outbursts and withdrawals, attacks and lulls, during which the revolutionary forces gain strength in preparation for their final victory...

We must: (a) In order to placate the deaf-mutes, proclaim the fictional separation of our government ... from the Comintern, declaring this agency to be an independent political group. The deaf-mutes will believe it. (b) Express a desire for the immediate resumption of diplomatic relations with capitalist countries on the basis of complete non-interference in their internal affairs. Again, the deaf- mutes will believe it. They will even be delighted and fling wide-open their doors through which the emissaries of the Comintern and Party Intelligence agencies will quickly infiltrate into these countries disguised as our diplomatic, cultural, and trade representatives.

Capitalists the world over and their governments will, in their desire to win Soviet market, shut their eyes to the above-mentioned activities and thus be turned into blind deaf-mutes. They will furnish credits, which will serve as a means of supporting the Communist parties in their countries, and, by supplying us, will rebuild our war industry, which is essential for our future attacks on our suppliers. In other words, they will be laboring to prepare their own suicide.

From antiquity (as noted in the Code of Hammurabi) until recent times,[4] the terms "deaf-mute" and "deaf and dumb" were analogous to "idiot." Various versions of what could be inferred in English as "useful idiots" have been used in verbal references about some Americans and others in capitalist societies.

Useful Idiots, and that would be....YOU!

Re: New poll shows Obama/McCain in a dead heat

Polls don't mean a thing. You don't know who they talk to or what they ask.
You can get any result out of any poll, just by changing the wording.
The race is heating up and is tightening and it will continue to do so.

Being FREE means Being Responsible.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Yes, people have to pursue something they want. Not just ask for it!!

Re: New poll shows Obama/McCain in a dead heat

On the other hand, Chuck Todd, political analyist for NBC posted this today...

From Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Domenico Montanaro, and Carrie Dann

*** Swing states swinging to Obama: Most of the national polls -- including our NBC/WSJ survey -- are now showing Obama with a double-digit national lead. And here come a slew of brand-new state polls that also suggest Obama is in command of this presidential contest.

The University of Wisconsin’s Big Ten Battleground polls have Obama up 10 points in Indiana (51%-41%), 13 points in Iowa (52%-39%), 22 in Michigan (58%-36%), 19 in Minnesota (57%-38%), 12 in Ohio (53%-41%), 11 in Pennsylvania (52%-41%), 13 in Wisconsin (53%-40%), and nearly 30 in Obama’s home state of Illinois (61%-32%). Meanwhile, there are new Quinnipiac surveys that show Obama up five points in Florida (49%-44%), 14 in Ohio (52%-38%), and 13 in Pennsylvania (53%-40%). And finally, new CNN/Time surveys find Obama ahead by five points among likely voters in Nevada (51%-46%), four points in North Carolina (51%-47%), four in Ohio (50%-46%), and 10 points in Virginia (54%-44%). The lone state survey that shows McCain ahead: CNN/Time’s West Virginia poll, where McCain’s nine (53%-44%).

Bad News For Republicans, Good News For America

The Electoral College Poll has once again placed Florida in a tie status, along with North Dakota. Their summary shows 337 votes for Obama, 171 for McCain and 30 tie votes. Here's a quick breakdown of the status of the votes as of today...

Strong Dem... 260
Strong Rep.... 134

Weak Dem... 26
Weak Rep.... 23

Barely Dem... 51
Barely Rep.... 14

Exactly Tied... 30

If Obama wins either Missouri (11 votes) or North Carolina (15 votes), it will take him over the 270 vote level to win the election. If Obama wins all the votes in the states currently weak and barely Democrat, and McCain wins all the votes in states currently showing weak and barely Republican, and all ties go to McCain... Obama wins the election 337-201.

New CBS News/NYT Poll

Obama-52% McCain-39%

How do you feel toward Obama?
Comfortable 62%, uneasy 34%

How do you feel toward McCain?
Uneasy 49%, comfortable 47%

22% say Obama is spending more time attacking his opponent than explaining what he would do as president.

64% say the same of McCain.

Once again, another poll proves my assertion that Palin (Caribou Barbie) as been a drag on the GOP ticket.

In polling conducted Wednesday and Thursday evenings, after the disclosure that the Republican National Committee used political funds to help Palin assemble a wardrobe for the campaign, 51 percent said they have a negative impression of her. Fewer, 46 percent, said they have a favorable view. That marks a stark turnaround from early September, when 59 percent of likely voters held positive opinions.

The declines in Palin's ratings have been even more substantial among the very voters Republicans aimed to woo. The percentage of white women viewing her favorably dropped 21 points since early September; among independent women, it fell 24 points.

More broadly, the intensity of negative feelings about Palin is also notable: Forty percent of voters have "strongly unfavorable" views, more than double the post-convention number. Nearly half of independent women now see her in a very negative light, a nearly threefold increase.

The shift in Palin's ratings come with a pronounced spike in the percentage of voters who see her as lacking the experience it takes to be a good president. Voters were about evenly divided on that question a month and a half ago, but toward the end of September a clear majority said she was not qualified. In the new poll, 58 percent said she is insufficiently experienced.

A Post-ABC poll earlier this week reported that the Palin pick deeply damaged voters' confidence in the types of decisions McCain would make as president.

Thanks Sarah!

Anyone that believes anything the lopsided, bias media and their polls has to say isn't proving to be much of an activist. Being spoon fed crap and believing it does not make it true.

A smart person knows that polls can be catered to accomplish any result/goal that is desired.

So go ahead with touting the polls. It means absolutely nothing.

The people that are wise understand the polls are being reported by the media to try and get people discouraged.

Remember John Kerry was up by far in the polls and what happened? He lost. Polls do not mean squat so thanks for the invalid info.
