Cash for Clunkers is silly

what a horrible idea, to try to use less gas and help the auto sales...all at the same time....thats to effecient of a program to help 2 areas at once...

And reason 1000000000000, to not listen to andy about cars

he thinks we should all drive this still

That car actually wouldn't qualify for the program.

And I'll take one in any color except black or white, please. First choice would probably be dark green.

Sepetember Auto Sales at GM were horrible!

DETROIT October 1, 2009; General Motors dealers in the United States delivered 156,673 vehicles in September. When compared with sales a year ago, September’s sales were down 45 percent.

Yes Obama and gov't running it now, so what do you expect?
Obama sells 45% less cars than Bush per month!

And Bush wasn't even involved!

The strange part is, the big liberal media never mentioned it!

Go figure, Obama is running GM into the ground just like the country.

It's called CHANGE!

Billions for the bankers and pennies for the people. We've got billions more to spend killing a bunch of poor bastards in the Middle East, but we can't get medical care for Americans. We can subsidize the Fed, the banks, the oil industry, and support an insane war with no end, but we can't rebuild our own infrastructure of roads, bridges, and railroads.

I'm confused. Why is billions for bankers bad, if billions for auto manufacturers good? You think anyone saw the billions spent by any of Obama's proposals? They all went to rich CEOs of companies, regardless of method.

Further, we don't need billions to rebuild "infrastructure". If we needed it, it would be built on the local level. In 2007 our economy was doing very well. By the end of 2008 our economy sucked. Do you think infrastructure in that year and a half, all disintegrated? Further, do you realize that a fraction of the stimiulus went to infrastructure? Moreover, the little that did, won't even happen for several years?

The idea that infrastructure is going to improve the economy, is a joke anyway. If your road by your home, gets repaved.... is your job going to suddenly double business? (hint: no). Recently, the bridge near my home got painted. Closed down the entire 1/4 mile stretch to paint the bridge. Then they reopened it. Did the economy suffer while the road was closed? No. Did it gain a huge boost when it opened? No.

What's wrong with people buying Japanese cars? If the American companies can't make good enough cars, then let them go under--isn't that how the market works? How many of those Japanese cars are made by Americans here in the US? I know a lot of Hondas are made here.

Absolutely nothing. I don't care what company you buy a car from. I have a problem with our government stealing money from us to give to those care companies. The point some people make is, there is this lame claim that the Crash-from-voters program, is going to stimulate the economy. No it is not. First, the number of cars purchased isn't even enough to make a dent. Second, not all of it went to US car companies anyway.

The point being made is, people who praise their socialism with "We're going to help America!" and then use US tax money to buy from Japan, isn't going to "Help America!".

Democrats are actually thrilled because we are doing just what we said we would... helping the American people and fighting back The Bush Recession!

Apparently by increasing unemployment to 11% and continuing Bush policy on bailing out banks, and everyone else.

Probably one of the best and most popular programs ever created to quickly help stimulate an economy and as a side bonus help troubled automakers & dealers get through the end of The Bush Recession...

Which explains why an Ohio Aluiminum plant that supplies the US automotive industry recently closed laying off 10,000 employees, 50 Chrysler dealership closed after Chrysler which was benefitting from the program, closed their franchises from lack of sales, and a major Delco parts distributer in Ohio closed as well.

Yes, he is fixing it all! I can see the jobs being saved!

and we sit here and watch Republicants dog it out with pure BS.

Speaking of BS.

9,000,000,000 (Nine Billion) of personal money that was just sitting on the sidelines now being pumped into our economy and instead of saying... Hey that's pretty damn good... they try and smear it as a bad thing.

They truly have nothing left but made up stories.

Do you understand how inflation works? When the government doesn't have any money, and can't sell anymore T-bills, they print it. Do you know what happens when government print money?

A loaf of bread now costs $25 Million Zimbabwe dollars. Yet here in America, our government is doing the exact same thing, and we think it's great.
