Gay people haven't asked for special privileges. They have asked to be treated equally.
They've demanded and received "partner benefits" from companies, just because they're shacked up with someone - heterosexuals don't get that.
This isn't as lopsided anymore, but in the late 80s and early 90s, the NIH spent about 20 times as much on AIDS as other deadly diseases with higher mortality rates, thanks to dem pressure in service to their gay constituencies.
They've demanded hate crime extra penalties, so that if you bash a gay, you get more years in prison than if you bash a heterosexual.
Special privileges is what they're all about.
