There is a class of people in the world that do not accept Christ as their savior. This same class of people has no respect for the Christian Faith and they hold anyone who has that faith in utter contempt.

But yet this same class of people has no qualms about commemorating Jesus Christ during the season known as Christmas.

When the members of this class display a Christmas wreath they are commemorating the crown of thorns with which the ungodly crowned Jesus Christ.

Displaying holly berries means the members of this class commemorate the blood that Jesus Christ shed on their behalf.

Christmas lights mean the star that lead the Wise Men to Christ child that the members of this class have no intention of ever looking for.

When the members of this class take their children to see Santa Claus they commemorates Nicholas, 4th century Christian bishop in Asia Minor, known for his charity towards the poor in the name of Christ.

Decorate a Christmas tree and the members of this class acknowledge the tree upon which Jesus Christ was crucified.

Give a Christmas gift and the members of this class mock the greatest give of all, eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of the Lord God.

So don’t delude yourselves into thinking that Christmas is just a winter celebration with no religious meaning instituted for the benefit of the hypocrites who mock it and profit by it.

It is actually the Winter Solstice that is being celebrated - we have no way of knowing when the Jewish prophet was born, especially as the calendar was moved by a week or so in the middle ages.

Ernest L. Martin, The Star That Astonished The World used archaeological and 1st century documentary data along with astronomy to determine what the Star of Bethlehem was and to calculate the birth of Christ. He placed the birth in the early fall and then determined that the Wise Men arrived roughly around December 25, which happened to fall within Hanukah during the year that Christ was born.

Interesting.

What I find ironic is many of these non-believers believe in man caused global warming. They willingly believe a hoax, but not the word of God. And in addition, they attack, denounce, and revile Christians. They do not do this to Muslims because they are afraid of them.

Libs, Jesus loves even you.

I am discussing this same thing on another board at the moment where, as I expected, someone brought up the fact that things like trees and holly berries also have significance in some pagan religions. But even if these symbols are not exclusively Christian, the left is still demonstrating their hypocrisy since they object to public displays of manger scenes while believing the equally religious Christmas tree and holly berries are OK.

Wreath:

The wreath is a ring made of flowers, leaves, fruits, cones, twigs, etc. It is an old Pagan symbol and to associate it with a cross may at first appear strange. Yet we must remember - the cross too, was used by Pagans long before the arrival of Christianity.

Germanic tribes used wreaths in the winter and decorated them with small candles. This was to encourage the onset of Spring - the circular wreath representing the turning seasons and the candles representing the warmth of the Sun. (See also Midsommarstang Cross)

Christmas:

Saturnalia was a festival held between 17th and 24th December, which began in the days of the Roman Empire. This was a week of feasting, gift-giving and an excuse for an orgy during the Northern Hemisphere's winter solstice. The objective of the debauchery and dancing around (carol) was to give the Sun a nudge and send a message to Mother Earth to begin reproducing for the Spring. This seemed to work quite well because sure enough, in Spring things started growing again.

The traditional Christmas colours of red and green, being complementary colours1, represent the fertility of the male and incubation by the female. Other Pagan things still seen around Christmas include the red berries and green leaves of holly, mistletoe and wreaths. Yule festivities are a mixture of customs and beliefs going back thousands of years.

Santa Claus

Children are taught that Santa Claus evolved from the good Saint Nicholas, and most people are happy to leave the story there. But followers of Paganism know a bit more about our Jolly Santa. A tough old Pagan god named Odin2, was imagined as a paunchy white-bearded old man in a long cloak. A mixture of the characterisations of both St. Nicholas and Odin is thought to result in Father Christmas, whom for the past eighty years or so has sported the Coca Cola colours3.

So, have a Merry Christmas. If you want to celebrate the Christ Mass, remember the birth of Christ, or just have a great winter solstice feast and encourage spring to come, that's up to you. In the spirit of Christmas, everyone can share in the joy, regardless of their beliefs.

Oh, yes, and may Odin bring you and yours what you want.

You just make crap up don't cha? Or you just don't really know. One of the two.

The date of Christmas is not the birthday of Jesus. Most all biblical scholars say it appears he was born in the summer... or they say they have no idea the date.

Secondly the winter Christmas we celebrate was actually a compromise with the well established pagan holiday already in existence.

Next the Christmas tree does not represent the cross (you absolutely just fabricated that out of thin air) it was once again part of the pagan ritual long before anyone started calling it Christmas. I'm sure there's also a a similar connection with the wreath.

And all this said I'm an AMERICAN first. That means freedom of and from religion. So anything people want to celebrate or whatever they choose to call it is perfectly fine with me and should be with anyone else.

There are multiple religious views in this country and all are equally valid. And before you get yourself caught up any deeper let me remind you many of our Founding Fathers were DEISTS (look it up). That means they believed in a God that created everything and then just disappeared. No man made religion, no Jesus or Mohammad... just man.

If you still wish to proselytize a misnomer of "Christian country" by our founders I refer you to the Treaty of Tripoli ratified by a 100% unanimous vote of Congress.

The Treaty of Tripoli

Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Annals of Congress, 5th Congress

And no pretense of any periodical tribute of further payments is ever to be made by either party.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

I love that man...I see he's getting his own show {can't remember what channel} but he's wonderfully talented and truly amazing and those hand puppets are all uniquely different in every-way!

And as far as that insult and offence goes...just try walking around smiling and shouting 'HAPPY-HAPPINESS-AND-GOOD-WILL-TO-ALL' and that ought to safely cover everybody from those 'WING NUTS to the RELIGIOUS FANATICS'

Even if things like wreaths and trees are not exclusively Christian, the fact remains that they are religious symbols. But leftists don’t get up in arms when they are displayed on public property at public expense without their Christian context. It is only Christianity that leftists have a cow- about, thus the leftists’ hypocrisy remains.

The date of Christmas is not the birthday of Jesus. [/COLOR]

When have I said it was? Celebrating the birth Christ is the same as celebrating Independence Day on July 4 when independence was declared on July 2. The date does not control the significance of the event being commemorated by a celebration.

If you are going to waste my time, at least make an effort to pay attention to what I have actually said.

It makes them unrepentant sinners.

I do believe the there was a court ruling some years ago that stated that Christmas was not a religious holiday but had evolved into a folk festival; I am not sure though. Nevertheless, I would like to know how Santa Claus fits into Christmas as a Christan symbol. And yes, we non-believers are an irreverant and evil lot. Humbug! Humbug!, I say!
